Affect broadly encompasses emotions, feelings, mood, and attitude that influence the behavior of individuals and groups. Recently, there has been a growing interest among researchers and practitioners in the role of affective factors in education. This paper presents a case study of implementing holistic educational ideas and methods aimed at integrating students' hearts and wills, which were regularly used in a typical Japanese senior high school over two years in EFL classes. The study aims to propose a curriculum structure that incorporates Holistic Education, emphasizing students’ emotions and needs within their school experience, while maintaining existing cognitive learning practices and curricula.

정서는 개인과 집단의 행동에 영향을 미치는 감정, 느낌, 기분, 태도를 포괄하는 개념이다. 최근 교육 분야에서는 이러한 정의적 요인이 수행하는 역할에 대해 연구자들과 실천가들 사이 에서 점점 더 큰 관심이 제기되고 있다. 본 논문은 일본의 한 일반계 고등학교에서 2년간 영어 를 외국어로서 가르치는(EFL) 수업에서 정기적으로 활용된, 학생들의 마음과 의지를 통합하는 것을 목표로 한 전인적 교육의 이념과 방법을 적용한 사례 연구를 제시한다. 본 연구의 목적은 학생들의 학교 경험 속 감정과 요구를 강조하는 전인교육을 통합하면서도, 기존의 인지적 학습 관행과 교육과정을 유지하는 교육과정 구조를 제안하는 데 있다.
