Effects of Group Presentation Activities on Perceived English-Speaking Improvement among Korean University Students : The Roles of Engagement, Confidence, and Instructor Facilitation
This study investigates the effects of group presentation activities on perceived improvement in English speaking skills within EFL contexts. Four primary variables—learner engagement, confidence, instructor support, and feedback—were simultaneously examined using survey data and quantitative analysis. We found that learner engagement and supportive instructional environments are the most significant predictors of perceived improvement in speaking ability. However, instructor feedback had a notably negative effect, implying that its influence may vary depending on specific contextual factors. We highlight the need to enhance learner engagement and confidence and to provide feedback that is carefully adapted to learners' needs. We believe that study provides insight for developing effective presentation-based English courses in higher education.
