This study aims to establish a conceptual and methodological foundation for the design and implementation of gugak-related play activities that, within the play-centered orientation of the 2022 revised integrated curriculum, move beyond serving merely as activity labels or motivational elements and instead reveal the educational value of gugak while allowing playfulness to emerge and be sustained. To this end, drawing on a conception of playfulness centered on learner ownership, the study developed an operational definition of gugak play and an analytical framework consisting of three axes: level of playfulness (Axis A), musical modes of action (Axis B), and patterns of transmission, transformation, and creation (Axis C). Using this framework, a document-based analysis was conducted on gugak-related content presented in Grades 1–2 integrated curriculum textbooks and teacher’s guides. The findings indicate that transmission contexts were not organized as core principles guiding activity performance, which increased the likelihood that elements of transmission would be reduced to mere materials and become decontextualized. In addition, activities were largely concentrated on functional or comprehension-oriented tasks or structured games, which limited the design of guided play. Furthermore, an overemphasis on singing-centered activities narrowed opportunities for gugak play experiences based on instrumental performance, creation, and listening. In response, this study proposes improvement measures including principles of recontextualization that embed minimal cues of transmission contexts within performance elements, design strategies that structurally expand learner ownership, and justification criteria and teacher’s guide description templates that explicitly articulate the “why, what, and how” of transformative activities.

본 연구는 2022 개정 통합교과 교육과정의 ‘놀이 중심’ 기조 하에서 국악 관련 놀이가 활동 명칭이나 흥미 요소로 머무르지 않고, 국악의 교육적 의미를 드러내면서도 놀이성이 발현 ㆍ지속되도록 설계ㆍ구현하기 위한 개념적ㆍ방법론적 토대를 마련하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 놀이성(학습자 소유권 중심)을 바탕으로 국악 놀이의 조작적 정의와 분석 준거(A축: 놀이성 수준, B축: 음악적 행위 양식, C축: 전승–변용–창안)를 설정하고, 1~2학년 통합교과 교과서ㆍ지도서의 국악 제재 내용을 문서 기반으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 전승 맥락이 활동 수행의 핵심 원리로 조직되지 않아 전승 요소가 소재화ㆍ탈맥락화될 가능성이 나타났고, 활 동은 기능ㆍ이해 과제 또는 구조화된 게임에 편중되어 ‘안내된 놀이’ 설계가 제한적이었다. 또한 가창 중심 편중으로 악기ㆍ창작ㆍ감상 기반 놀이 경험이 협소하였다. 이에 전승 맥락의 최소 단서를 수행 요소에 내장하는 재맥락화 원리, 학습자 소유권을 구조적으로 확대하는 설계, 변용 활동의 ‘왜ㆍ무엇ㆍ어떻게’를 명시하는 정당화 기준과 지도서 서술 템플릿을 개선 방안으로 제안하였다.
