This study aims to interpret women’s experiences of silence and oppression and to explore the meaning of recovering one’s authentic self through dream journaling and self-dialogue. Women, as relational beings, inevitably experience emotions and forms of lack through their ongoing activities within relationships. These experiences are shaped into an internal psychological operating system through early primary caregivers of relationships and broader sociocultural environments. In particular, within patriarchal social structures, women have internalized ways of living that consistently suppress their own emotions and desires through silence and self-restraint. As a result, many women experience a loss of selfhood and an inner disconnection from their own voices. Grounded in Gilligan’s theory of women’s dreams, this study explored the process through which women transition from silence to the recovery of their own voices by using dream journaling as a mediating practice and narrative inquiry as the methodological approach. In doing so, they came to recognize and embrace multiple ethical voices within themselves. This process offered participants an opportunity to reinterpret their life experiences and to undergo a transformative shift in awareness through which they began to recover a sense of selfhood and authenticity.

여성은 관계 속에서 살아가는 존재다. 여성은 관계적 활동 과정에서 필연적으로 감정과 결핍을 경험하며, 이러한 여성의 경험은 유아기 양 육 관계와 사회문화적 환경 속에서 내적 심리 작동 체계로 형성된다. 특히 여성은 가부장제에서 자신들의 감정과 욕구를 억압과 침묵으로 일관하는 삶을 내면화시킨다. 그 결과 자기다움의 상실과 내적 단절을 경험한다. 우리는 길리건(C. Gilligan)이 제시한 여성에 대한 이해를 근거로, 침묵으로부터 여성이 자신의 목소리를 회복하는 과정을 매개하는 꿈 기록 경험을 내러티브 방법으로 탐구하였다. 본 연구를 통해 연구 참여자는 꿈을 기록하고, 자기 대화, 연구자와 대화의 과정을 거치 며 침묵해 온 자기 목소리에 질문하고 응답함으로써, 복수의 목소리를 수용하면서 윤리적으로 성장하는 경험을 하였다.
