This study conducted qualitative research through in-depth interviews with nine dance-related experts to systematically explore specialization strategies for university dance departments. The following conclusions were drawn from the collected data: First, the crisis facing university dance departments was identified not as a result of external environmental changes such as declining student populations but rather as a structural problem arising from the complex interaction of rigid practice-centered educational structures narrow career pathways and institutional constraints. Second, five core components for specialization emerged multi-career responsive educational structures specialized educational domains (dance education, disability dance, arts planning and administration, etc.), industry-field connectivity, institutional support infrastructure and future-oriented social competencies. Third, actionable specialization strategies for ensuring sustainability were proposed, including restructuring curricula into elective and track-based systems, establishing community and industry- based field partnerships, strengthening convergence and AI-based competencies, and establishing departmental identity through strategic branding. These findings can serve as foundational data for dance departments to overcome existential crises and establish future-oriented academic and social identities.

이 연구는 무용학과 특성화 방안을 체계적으로 탐색하는데 목적을 두고 무용 관련 전문가 9명을 연구참여자로 선정하여 심층 면담을 통한 질적 연구를 수행하였다. 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 대학 무용학과의 위기는 실기중심 교육구조의 고착, 진로구조의 협소성, 제도적 제약이 복합적으로 작용한 구조적 문제로 인식되었다. 둘째, 무용학과 특성화를 위한 핵심 구성요소로 다중 진로대응 교육구조, 교육 특화영 역(무용교육, 장애무용, 기획·행정 등), 산업·현장 연계성, 제도적 지원기반, 미래사회 대응역량이 도출되었다. 셋째, 무용학과의 지속가능성 확보를 위한 실행 가능한 특성화 전략으로 선택형·트랙형 교육과정 재구조화, 지역·산업 기반 현장연계, 융합·AI 기반 역량강화, 학과 정체성 확립과 브랜딩이 제시되었다. 이러한 결과는 무용학과가 존폐 위기를 넘어 미래지향적 학문적·사회적 정체성을 확립하는 데 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
