This study is designed to explore the poetic world of Yi Eunsang, a Noron-affiliated literary figure active in the 17th century. Yi Eunsang belonged to the Yeonan Yi clan, a family renowned for its literary accomplishments since the 16th century, particularly after Yi Jeong-gwi served as Daejehak. Yi Eunsang himself was well known among the writers of his time, and a considerable number of his poems have been preserved in his collected works. To understand his poetry, this paper first provides an overview of his life and the poems contained in his literary collection. Because the poems in his anthology are arranged in chronological order of composition, they allow us to view his life as a whole. When examining the poems he composed while he was serving as Danghagwan, one can observe a pronounced tendency toward the creation of bureaucratic poetry Yi Eunsang also composed many poems when he left the capital and encountered new scenery, and these works prominently display his spontaneous emotional impressions. Finally, Nam Yongik—his long-time friend and correspondent—praised Yi Eunsang for his skill in writing mansi. During the period when Yi Eunsang served in government posts in Seoul, he produced many such poems. Notably, a significant number of his mansi were dedicated to women. In Yi Eunsang’s mansi, he conveys an intense and heartfelt grief by portraying his relationship with the deceased or the chief mourner as especially close.

본고는 17세기에 활동한 노론 계열 문인 이은상의 시세계를 살피기 위해 기획된 것이다. 이은상의 본관은 연안인데, 연안 이씨는 16세기에 대제 학을 지낸 이정귀 이후로 문장으로 이름난 집안이다. 이은상 역시 당대의 여러 문인들에게 문명이 있었으며, 그의 문집에 남아있는 그의 시 역시 그 분량이 적지 않다. 본고에서는 그의 시를 이해하기 위해 그의 삶과 문집에 수록된 시를 개관하였다. 그의 문집에 수록된 시는 창작 시기 순으로 수록되어 있기에 그의 시를 보면 그의 삶을 전체적으로 조망할 수 있다. 그가 당하관으로 있을 때 지은 시를 보면 관각시의 창작이 두드러진다. 또 이은상은 서울 을 벗어나 새로운 풍경을 맞이할 때 많은 시를 지었는데, 이때에는 즉흥 적인 감상을 드러낸 시를 많이 창작하였다. 마지막으로 이은상과 오랜 시 간 교유한 남용익은 이은상이 만시를 잘 짓는다고 평하기도 했다. 이은상 이 서울에서 관직 생활을 하던 시기에 지은 시를 보면 만시를 많이 지었 음을 확인할 수 있다. 그 가운데 이은상이 여성을 대상으로 한 만시를 많 이 지은 것은 특기할 만하다. 이은상의 만시에서는 망자 혹은 상주와의 관계를 가깝게 하여, 절실한 슬픔을 드러내고 있다.
