This study aims to elucidate the life and poetic world of Wolbong Go Bu-cheon. Chapter 2 examines Go’s life, highlighting how he inherited the legacy of loyalty (Chungjeol, 忠節) and exceptional literary talent from his grandfather, father, and uncle, all of whom died as martyrs during the Japanese invasions of Korea (Imjin War). This spirit of loyalty manifested in Go’s steadfast integrity; notably, he submitted a memorial opposing the deposition of Queen Dowager Inmok by the Daebuk faction during the Gwanghaegun reign and unhesitatingly offered candid admonitions while serving in the Censorate (Daegan) during the Injo reign. His appointments as a drafter of royal edicts (Jijegyō), an amanuensis of the solstice envoy, and a tutor (Pilseon) in the Crown Prince Tutorial Office (Syunjun-bang) further attest to his preeminent literary capabilities. Chapter 3 explores Go's distinctive poetic world based on his life experiences. An analysis of his Sino-Korean poetry reveals a complex coexistence of seemingly contradictory sentiments: a critical perception of a corrupt reality versus a positive affirmation of the state, the hardships of official life versus professional confidence, resentment over unacknowledged talent (Hoejae-bul-u, 懷才不遇), fierce animosity toward the northern barbarians (Later Jin/Qing), a longing for retirement, and contentment with rural life. To understand these themes, this study examines his work within the contexts of the Gwanghaegun and Injo eras. During the Gwanghaegun period, Go perceived the contemporary situation as a "corrupt reality" and expressed the sorrow of a talented scholar neglected by the times. In contrast, during the Injo period, he regarded the political landscape as a peaceful era (Taepyeong-seongdae), which fostered his confidence in public service, his bellicose stance against foreign threats, and his ultimate satisfaction with a life returned to nature.

본고는 월봉 고부천의 생애와 시세계를 밝히는 데에 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 2장에서 고부천의 생애를 살폈다. 고부천의 생애에서 주목되는 것은 그가 임진왜란 때 殉節한 조부, 부친, 백부의 忠節의 유풍과 뛰어난 文才를 이어받았다는 점이다. 충절의 유풍은 고부천에게 강직한 절조로 나타나는데, 광해군대에 대북파가 주장한 인목대비 폐모론에 반대하는 상 소를 올렸고, 인조대에는 臺諫직을 맡으면서 직언을 서슴지 않았던 일을 말한다. 고부천이 지제교를 겸했고, 동지사 서장관에 발탁되었으며, 사간 원과 사헌부의 대간직을 수행했고, 세자시강원 필선을 맡았던 것은 고부 천이 뛰어난 文才를 갖췄기 때문이다. 3장에서는 2장 생애를 기반으로 고부천의 특징적인 시세계를 살펴보았 다. 고부천의 한시를 검토해보면 不正의 현실인식, 肯定의 현실인식, 관직 생활의 어려움, 회재불우, 관직 생활에의 자신감, 오랑캐에 대한 강한 적 개심, 귀거래 의식, 전원생활에의 만족감 등을 드러내며 상반된 듯 보이는 의식들이 존재한다. 이는 창작 당시의 시대 상황과 작자의 처지를 고려하 여 면밀히 살필 필요가 있었다. 이에 광해군대와 인조대로 나눌 수 있었 고 시세계를 유기적으로 살펴보았는데 광해군대에는 고부천이 당대의 현실을 ‘不正의 現實’로 인식했고 그러한 현실 속에서 懷才不遇의 정서를 드 러내고 있었다. 인조대에는 정치 현실을 긍정적으로 인식했으며 그로인해 관직생활에 대한 자신감, 오랑캐에 대한 강한 적개심, 전원생활에의 만족 감 등을 드러내고 있었다.
