Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of depression and social participation on suicidal ideation among older adults with disabilities. Methods: In this study, 374 older adults with disabilities were analyzed using raw data from the elderly survey conducted by the Korea Institute of Health and Social Affairs in 2023. Sociodemographic variables, depression and social participation were input to examine their effect on suicidal ideation. Data were analyzed using chi-square tests, ANOVA, t-tests, and logistic regression analysis. Results: First, depression showed significant differences only according to income(p<0.01). Social participation was higher among males (p<0.05), younger individuals (p<0.05), those with a spouse (p<0.05), those with higher median income (p<0.001), and those with a high school diploma (p<0.05). Second, suicidal ideation did not differ significantly across sociodemographic variables. Third, the group with suicidal ideation had higher levels of depression(p<0.001) and lower levels of social participation(p<0.01). Lastly, after adjusting for sociodemographic variables, logistic regression analysis indicated that depression was a statistically significant predictor of suicidal ideation when entered independently (OR=2.15, p<0.01). Furthermore, when both depression and social participation were included in the model, only depression remained significantly associated with suicidal ideation (OR=2.06, p<0.01). Conclusion: These findings suggest that programs aimed at reducing depression and promoting social participation are necessary to decrease suicidal ideation among older adults with disabilities.

목적: 본 연구는 장애노인의 우울과 사회참여가 자살생각에 미치는 영향을 보기 위한 연구 이다. 방법: 2023년 노인실태조사 원자료를 활용하여 등록장애인 중 자살생각에 대해 응답한 374명을 대상으로 분석하였다. 사회인구학적 변수, 우울, 사회참여가 자살생각에 미치는 영향 을 분석하기 위하여 교차분석, 분산분석, t-검정 및 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 결과: 첫째, 사회인구학적 변수 중 중위소득만이 통계적으로 유의하였는데 중위소득이 낮 을수록 우울은 높은 것으로 나타났다(p<0.01). 사회참여의 경우 남자(p<0.05), 연령대가 낮을 수록(p<0.05), 배우자가 있는 경우(p<0.05), 중위소득이 높을수록(p<0.001), 고졸일 경우 (p<0.05) 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자살생각유무에 따라 사회인구학적 변수는 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보이고 있지 않았다. 셋째, 자살생각을 가진 장애노인이 우울은 높고(p<0.001), 사회참여는 낮은 것으로 나타났다(p<0.01). 마지막으로 사회인구학적 변수를 통제한 후 로지 스틱 회귀분석을 해 본 결과, 우울만을 투입하였을 때에는 통계적으로 유의하였으며 (OR=2.15, p<0.01), 우울과 사회참여를 투입하였을 때에는 우울만 자살생각에 유의하게 영향 을 주는 것으로 나타났다(OR=2.06, p<0.01). 결론: 장애노인의 자살생각 감소를 위하여 맞춤형 우울 감소 및 사회참여 프로그램 시행이 필요하다.
