Background: This study aims to contribute to the prevention of generalized anxiety disorder and the suggestion of effective oral health management measures by analyzing the effects of factors related to oral health in Korean adults on generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Methods: Raw data from the 9th second year (2023) National Health and Nutrition Survey were used, and cross-analysis and multiple regression analysis were conducted on 5,757 adults aged 19 or older in Korea. The analysis was performed using demographic characteristics, the generalized anxiety disorder scale (GAD- 7), mental health and stress factors, and variables related to oral health. Cross-analysis and multiple regression analysis were conducted to investigate the factors affecting generalized anxiety disorder according to the oral health factors of Korean adults. Results: Gender, age, income level, basic living support, and marital status were statistically significant in the difference in generalized anxiety disorder according to demographic factors (p≤ 0.05), and in the difference in generalized anxiety disorder according to factors related to oral health, chewing problems, chewing discomfort, speaking problems, and untreated dental conditions were statistically significant (p≤0.05). As for the factors related to oral health affecting general anxiety disorder, speaking problems and number of natural teeth were statistically significant (p≤0.05), and the higher the number of natural teeth, the lower the level of anxiety. Conclusions: As a result of this study, it was found that oral health management can play an important role in promoting mental health and preventing general anxiety disorder. For the effective prevention and treatment of general anxiety disorder, there is a need to make integrated efforts to promote and manage oral health along with improving access to mental health services, and education programs for oral health should also be developed when developing mental health-related programs in the future.

연구배경: 본 연구는 한국 성인의 구강건강 관련 요인이 범불안장애(Generalized Anxiety Disorder, GAD)에 미치는 영향을 분석하여, 범불안장애 예방 및 효과적인 구강건강 관리 방안을 제시하는 데 기여하고자 하였다. 연구방법:제9기 2차년도(2023) 국민건강영양조사 원시자료를 사용였으며, 우리나라 성인 19세 이상 성인 5,757 명을 대상으로 인구사회학적 특성, 범불안장애 척도(GAD-7), 정신건강 및 스트레스 요인, 구강건강 관련 변수를 사용하여 분석하였다. 한국 성인의 구강건강 요인에 따른 범불안장애에 미치는 영향 요인을 조사하기 위해 교차 분석과 다중 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과: 인구사회학적 요인에 따른 범불안장애 차이에서 성별, 연령, 가구 월 소득, 기초생활수급 여부, 결혼 여부가 통계적으로 유의하였고(p≦0.05), 구강건강 관련 요인에 따른 범불안장애 차이에서는 씹기 문제, 저작 불 편, 말하기 문제, 치과 미치료 경험여부가 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다(p≦0.05). 범불안장애에 영향을 미치는 구강건강 관련 요인은 말하기 문제와 자연치아 수가 통계적으로 유의했으며(p≦0.05), 말하기 문제가 없고 자연치 아 수가 많을수록 불안 수준이 낮게 나타났다. 결론: 본 연구결과 구강건강 관리가 정신건강 증진과 범불안장애 예방에 중요한 역할을 할 수 있는 것으로 나타 났다. 범불안장애의 효과적인 예방 및 치료를 위해서는 정신건강 서비스 접근성 향상과 더불어 구강건강 증진 및 관리에 대한 노력이 통합적으로 이루어져야 할 필요성이 있으며, 향후 정신건강 관련 프로그램 개발 시 구강건강 에 대한 교육 프로그램도 개발되어야 할 것이다.
