Background: This study aimed to investigate the level of awareness of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors among dental hygiene students and to analyze the relationship between their ESG perception and Eco-friendly consumption behaviors. Methods: A structured self-administered questionnaire was conducted from September 22 to 29, 2025, with 164 dental hygiene students. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation, and regression analysis. Results: The average ESG awareness score was 3.96. All three factors of ESG showed significant positive correlations with eco-friendly consumption behaviors. Regression analysis revealed that the environmental, social, and governance factors of ESG significantly affected disposal behavior within eco-friendly consumption behaviors. Conclusions: This study emphasizes the importance of introducing ESG education, including both liberal arts and major curricula, to foster balanced knowledge and attitudes toward ESG among dental hygiene students. The results revealed structural differences in ESG awareness through a multidimensional analysis of environmental, social, and governance factors, providing a meaningful foundation for the development of tailored educational strategies.

연구배경: 본 연구는 치위생학과 학생의 ESG 인식 수준과 환경친화적 소비행동의 특성을 파악하고, 두 변수 간 의 관계를 분석함으로써 향후 치위생 교육과정 내 ESG 기반 교육 방향을 모색하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 연구방법: 2025년 9월 22일부터 9월 29일까지 전라도 지역의 치위생학과 재학생 164명을 대상으로 구조화된 자기기입식 설문조사를 실시하였다. 측정 변수는 ESG 인식, 환경친화적 소비행동이었으며, 자료는 기술통계, t-test와 ANOVA, Pearson 상관분석, 회귀분석을 통해 분석하였다. 연구결과: ESG에 대한 인식은 평균 3.96점이었고, ESG의 환경·사회·지배구조와 환경친화적 소비행동의 구매 행동·사용행동·처분행동은 모두 유의한 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 회귀분석 결과, ESG의 환경·사회·지배구 조는 환경친화적 소비행동 중 처분행동에 유의한 영향을 미치는 요인이었다. 결론: 치위생학과 학생들이 ESG 관련 지식과 태도를 균형 있게 함양하기 위해, 교양 및 전공 교육과정을 아우르 는 통합적 ESG 교육의 도입이 필요하다. 본 연구의 결과 환경, 사회, 지배구조의 다차원적 분석을 통해 ESG 인 식의 구조적 차이가 드러났으며, 이는 맞춤형 교육 전략 개발을 위한 근거를 제공하였다는데 의의가 있다.
