As the Trolley Dilemma has expanded into diverse fields such as moral psychology and AI ethics, it has increasingly lost its original normative ethical context, becoming a mere measurement tool. This study critically examines how the applied approaches that treat the trolley dilemma merely as methodological material lead to conceptual misuse, the repackaging of existing theories, and the regression of normative discourse. The decontextualized discussion of the trolley dilemma not only overlooks the core ethical issue of moral justification—thereby yielding a superficial understanding—but also distorts its intellectual genealogy, ultimately exaggerating the originality of subsequent research. A truly fruitful interdisciplinary discussion of the Trolley Problem can only proceed if it is grounded in conceptual rigor and a profound understanding of its original normative implications.

트롤리 딜레마가 도덕 심리학, 인공지능 윤리 등 다양한 분야로 확 장 논의됨에 따라, 그 본래의 규범 윤리적 맥락을 상실한 채 단순한 측정 도구로 소비되는 경향이 나타난다. 본 연구는 트롤리 딜레마를 방법론적 소재로만 주목하는 응용적 접근이 개념의 오용, 기존 이론의 재포장, 규범적 논의의 후퇴를 초래하는 과정을 비판적으로 고찰한다. 탈맥락화된 트롤리 딜레마 논의는 도덕적 정당화라는 윤리학의 핵심 문제를 간과하여 피상적 이해를 낳을 뿐만 아니라, 지적 계보를 왜곡 연구의 독창성을 과장하는 결과를 낳는다. 트롤리 딜레마 연구의 학제 간 확장은 개념적 엄밀성과 충분한 규범적 이해를 전제로 할 때 비로 소 풍요로운 논의로 발전할 수 있다.
