(Purpose) The purpose of this study is to analyze the attitudes of Korean toward immigrants, and explore factors that explain differences in acceptance attitudes. And this research derives measures to secure people's acceptance of immigrants in order to overcome the crisis of population decline in the future. (Research methods) Data from the Korea Institute of Public Administration(KIPA)'s '2023 Social Integration Survey' were used for analysis. This survey was conducted from September 1 to October 31, 2023. It was surveyed for adult men and women aged 19 or older living in South Korea, and total sample was 8,221. For the analysis method, descriptive statistical analysis and regression analysis were used. (Findings) First, it was confirmed that the Korean's negative attitudes toward immigrants were somewhat easing, but the easing of negative attitudes did not mean a change to a positive attitude toward immigrants. Second, social capital, human capital, and satisfaction with life were suggested as important variables as factors affecting the acceptance of immigrants. In particular, both the degree of group participation and interpersonal trust, which are core constituent concepts of social capital, had a positive effect on improving the acceptability of immigrants. As for life satisfaction, subjective and psychological satisfaction was found to be more important than objective satisfaction. Finally, the higher the level of education, the more positive attitudes toward immigrants were shown. (Conclusion and recommendations) Even without the active participation of members of society in relation to social capital, if a social community exists and there are people who participate in it, it can not only weaken alertness and unfamiliarity with immigrants, but can also help build trust. In addition, rather than objectively how rich they live, they drew implications that how comfortably they can live psychologically can help strengthen their inclusion toward foreigners. Finally, this paper emphasizes the need for internationalization and multicultural education in elementary and secondary school.

(연구목적) 본 연구는 우리나라 국민들이 이민자에 대해서 어떤 수용태도를 가지고 있는지 실태를 분석하고, 수 용태도의 차이를 설명하는 요인을 탐색하여 향후 인구감소의 위기를 극복하기 위해서 요구되는 이민자에 대한 국민들의 수용성 확보 방안을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. (연구방법) 한국행정연구원의 ‘2023년 사회통합실태조사’자료를 분석에 활용하였다. 본 조사는 2023.9.1.~ 10.31. 기간 동안 실시되었으며, 2023년 현재 국내 거주 만 19세 이상 성인남녀를 대상으로 조사하였으며 표본 수는 8,221명이다. 분석방법은 기술통계분석과 회귀분석을 활용하였다. (연구결과) 첫째, 우리나라 국민들이 외국인에 대한 부정적 태도가 다소 완화되고 있다는 것은 확인되었으나 부 정적 태도의 완화가 외국인에 대한 긍정적 태도를 의미하지는 않았다. 둘째, 외국인의 수용성에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 사회자본, 인적자본, 삶에 대한 만족도가 중요한 변수로 제시되었다. 특히 사회자본의 경우 핵심 구성 개념인 단체참여 정도와 대인신뢰 모두 외국인에 대한 수용성을 제고하는 긍정적 영향을 미쳤다. 삶의 만족도는 객관적 만족도보다 주관적･심리적 만족도가 더욱 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 교육수준이 높을수록 이 민자에 대한 긍정적 태도를 보여주었다. (결론 및 제언) 사회자본과 관련하여 사회구성원들의 적극적 참여가 아니더라도 사회적 커뮤니티가 존재하고 그 것에 참여하는 사람들이 있다면 외국인에 대한 경계심과 낯설음을 약화시킬 뿐만 아니라 더 나아가서는 신뢰형 성에도 도움이 될 수 있다. 또한 객관적으로 얼마나 풍요롭게 사느냐보다는 심리적으로 얼마나 편안하게 살 수 있느냐가 외국인에 대한 포용력을 강화하는데 도움이 될 수 있다는 시사점을 도출하였다. 마지막으로 본 논문은 초･중등교육에서의 국제화 및 다문화 교육이 이루어져야 할 필요성 강조한다.
