This study investigated the satisfaction and demand for lifelong education among adults aged 20 years and older and suggests directions for improving lifelong education program operations. A descriptive survey study was conducted with 193 participants recruited through the Lifelong Education Center website and social media of N University from November 27 to December 10, 2024. The survey instrument consisted of 21 items across two domains—general characteristics and participation-related characteristics—and its validity was verified through expert consultation. The results showed that most participants were employed women in their 40s and 50s with a university education or higher, and they demonstrated high interest in sports and health-related courses. Major motivations for participation were leisure and hobby enhancement and health management, while overall satisfaction was positive at 83.2%. Key factors influencing satisfaction included instructor expertise, appropriate class schedules, and transportation accessibility. The main barriers to participation were lack of educational information and time constraints. Educational satisfaction was higher among men (t = 2.40, p = .017) and among those with prior participation experience (t = 6.09, p < .001). Factors influencing satisfaction with the program educational program were participation experience (β = -.39, p < .001), explaining 17.0% of the variance. The findings underscore the need to develop tailored lifelong education programs that reflect the characteristics and needs of adult learners and highlight the crucial role of universities in contributing to community development and social engagement through lifelong education.

본 연구는 20세 이상 성인 남녀를 대상으로 평생교육의 만족도와 수요를 조사하여 향후 프로그램 운영 개 선 방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 2024년 11월 27일부터 12월 10일까지 G광역시 N대학교 평생교육원 홈페이지와 SNS를 통해 모집된 193명을 대상으로 서술적 조사연구를 진행하였다. 측정도구는 일반적 특성과 참여 대상자 특 성 등 2개 영역, 21문항으로 구성되었으며, 전문가 자문을 통해 타당성을 확보하였다. 연구결과, 40∼50대 여성, 대학교 졸업 이상의 취업자가 많았으며, 스포츠·건강 관련 강좌에 높은 관심을 보였다. 참여 동기는 취미·여가 증 진과 건강 관리가 대부분이었으며, 83.2%가 전반적으로 프로그램에 만족하였다. 강사의 전문성, 교육 운영시간, 교통 접근성이 중요 요인으로 나타났으며, 교육정보 부족과 시간 제약이 참여의 주요 장애요인이었다. 프로그램 교육 만족도는 남성(t=2.40, p=.017), 참여경험은 있는 경우가 더 높았다(t=6.09, p<.001). 프로그램 교육 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인은 참여경험(β＝-.39, p=<.001)이었고, 설명력은 17.0%이었다. 본 연구는 성인학습자의 특성과 요구를 반영한 맞춤형 프로그램 개발의 필요성을 제시하며, 대학 평생교육이 지역사회 발전과 사회적 기여의 핵 심 역할을 수행해야 함을 시사한다.
