An Analysis of Artificial Intelligence Content in the Technology Domains of South Korea’s 2022 Revised Practical Arts (Technology and Home Economics) Curriculum
This study examined the connections between educational levels by summarizing, comparing, and analyzing AI-related content in the 2022 Revised National Curriculum of South Korea, including the General Principles, elementary practical arts, and middle school technology and home economics courses. The General Principles emphasized digital transformation and the integration of intelligent information technologies as key strategic directions for education. The elementary practical arts curriculum concentrated on foundational competencies, including understanding AI concepts, developing data literacy, and gaining hands-on experience with machine learning. The middle school technology and home economics curriculum focused on the applied use of AI across domains such as information technology, robotics, housing, and agriculture, while also promoting ethical reflection. Across these levels, the curriculum demonstrated conceptual consistency and a clear developmental progression, linking foundational understanding at the elementary level to applied and critical engagement at the middle school level.
