The areas surrounding national park play a crucial ecological role as intimately connected to internal park ecosystems, yet simultaneously face external pressures including roadkill and invasive species. As sensitive bioindicators for environmental change, amphibians and reptiles provide essential information for assessing the conservation status of local ecosystems through their habitat monitoring. Based on field surveys conducted on July 25, 2024, within the Mudeungsan Nature Center and the Gwangjuho Lake Eco Park, this research presents the current status of herpetofauna species in the surroundings of Mudeungsan National Park. As a result, five species across four families within one order of amphibians, including Bombina orientalis, Bufo gargarizans, Dryophytes japonicus, Pelophylax nigromaculatus, and Glandirana rugosa were confirmed. Reptilian fauna consisted of five species across four families within two orders, including Gloydius ussuriensis, Rhabdophis tigrinus, Dinodon rufozonatum, Mauremys reevesii (Natural Monument No. 453; Endangered Wildlife Class II), and invasive red-eared slider turtle, Trachemys scripta elegans. The data collected in this study serve as a fundamental resource for formulating biodiversity conservation and invasive species management strategies in the areas surrounding Mudeungsan National Park. Furthermore, the findings are expected to support the development of sustained monitoring programs and enhance community awareness of local biodiversity.

양서·파충류는 환경 변화에 민감하게 반응하는 생태계 지 표종으로, 이들의 서식 현황을 파악하는 것은 지역 생태계의 보전 상태를 평가하는 데 필수적인 정보를 제공한다. 2024년 7월 25일 무등산 생태탐방원과 광주호 호수생태원 일대를 조사한 결과, 양서류 1목 4과 5종, 파충류 2목 4과 5종이 확인 되었다. 본 조사를 통해 확보된 자료는 무등산 국립공원 주변 부의 생물다양성 보전 및 외래종 관리 전략 수립의 기초 자료 로 활용될 수 있으며, 나아가 지속적인 모니터링 프로그램 개 발과 지역 사회의 생물다양성 인식 제고에도 기여할 것이다.
