This study explores the potential integration of therapeutic horseback riding and smart healthcare technologies to propose a future-oriented rehabilitation model. A literature review of domestic and international studies published between 2021 and 2025 revealed that while therapeutic horseback riding has proven benefits for both physical and psychological recovery, it still lacks a sufficient objective evaluation system and robust data-driven management framework. Integrating smart healthcare technologies—such as wearable sensors, artificial intelligence (AI), and motion-tracking systems—can enable real-time monitoring of physiological signals, posture adjustments, and emotional states, thereby providing personalized feedback and establishing a scientific basis for treatment verification. Moreover, by addressing the ethical and technical complexities inherent in the three-fold interaction between humans, animals, and machines, this convergence can transform therapeutic horseback riding into an intelligent, data-based therapeutic system that enhances both the efficacy and accessibility of rehabilitation programs.

본 연구는 재활승마와 스마트헬스케어 기술의 융합 가능성을 탐색하여 미래형 재활 치료 모델의 방향을 제시 하고자 하였다. 문헌연구를 통해 2021~2025년 국내외 선행연구를 분석한 결과, 재활승마는 신체적·정신적 회복 효과가 입증된 통합치료임에도 불구하고 객관적 평가체계와 데이터 기반 관리가 미흡한 한계를 지닌 것으로 나타났다. 이에 스마트헬스케어 기술을 접목할 경우, 웨어러블 센서와 인공지능(AI)을 활용한 생체신호 분석, 동작 추적, 정서 상태 모 니터링을 통해 맞춤형 피드백 제공이 가능하며, 치료효과의 과학적 검증 기반을 마련할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 특 히 인간–동물–기계 간의 상호작용을 고려한 윤리적·기술적 접근이 병행될 때, 재활승마는 데이터 중심의 지능형 재활 시스템으로 발전할 잠재력을 지니고 있다.
