This study explored how adolescents residing in residential child-care facilities and attending high school perceive “decent work” during their career exploration process. In-depth interviews were conducted twice with four high school students living in child-care facilities, and the data were analyzed using Krippendorff’s (2003) six-step qualitative content analysis procedure. The analysis yielded 22 meaning units, 11 categories, and 5 overarching domains. First, in the domain of structural constraints due to family dissolution and institutional living, stability and safety were recognized as the minimum criteria for “decent work.” Second, the domain of institution-based institutional and social support revealed multilayered career support experiences through schools and facilities. Third, in the domain of career goals and exploration efforts, participants demonstrated adaptive patterns of career planning, execution, and iterative cycles of experience and reflection. Fourth, in the domain of conditions of decent work, participants evaluated “decent work” by integrating both internal and external standards. Fifth, the domain of future expectations and meaning reflected procedural and step-by-step career pathways as well as a sense of vocational calling and purpose. Through these findings, the study qualitatively identified the multidimensional criteria and meaning construction of “decent work” among adolescents in protective care, thereby expanding understanding of career development among career-vulnerable youth and providing implications for tailored career counseling and educational support programs.

본 연구는 아동양육시설에 거주하며 고등학교에 재학 중인 청소년이 진로탐색 과정 에서 ‘괜찮은 일’을 어떻게 인식하는지를 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 아동양육시설 고등학 생 4명을 목적표집하여 2회씩 심층면담을 실시하고, Krippendorff(2003)의 6단계 질 적내용분석 절차로 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 22개 의미내용, 11개 범주, 5개 영역 이 도출되었다. 첫째, ‘시설 생활과 가족해체로 인한 구조적 제약’ 영역에서는 안정·안 전이 ‘괜찮은 일’의 최소기준으로 인식되었다. 둘째, ‘시설 기반의 제도적·사회적 지원’ 영역에서는 학교·시설을 통한 다층적 진로지원 경험이 확인되었다. 셋째, ‘진로목표와 탐색 노력’ 영역에서는 진로계획 수립과 실행, 체험-성찰의 반복을 통해 진로 적응을 도 모하는 양상이 나타났다. 넷째, ‘괜찮은 일의 조건’ 영역에서는 내적·외적 준거를 종합 해 ‘괜찮은 일’을 판단하였다. 다섯째 , ‘미래에 대한 기대와 의미’ 영역에서는 절차적·단 계적 경로 구상과 직업적 소명의식·목적의식이 드러났다. 본 연구는 아동양육시설에 거주하며 고등학교에 재학 중인 청소년의 맥락에서 ‘괜찮은 일’의 다차원적 준거와 의 미 구성을 질적으로 제시함으로써, 진로취약계층 청소년의 진로발달 이해를 확장하고, 향후 맞춤형 진로상담 및 교육지원 방안에 시사점을 제시하였다.
