This study examined the current state of family, gender roles, and the potential for new community formation through analysis of character identities and women's narratives in the dramas “The Glory” and “Namnam”. The analysis suggested the value of a women's community as a quasi-family, focusing on realistic characters and incidents such as school violence, domestic violence, and single mothers. While “The Glory” presents the characters’ choices and relationships with a high level of violence, it recreates a narrative of discrimination against women through the process of overcoming social violence. Breaking away from the Cinderella narrative, the female protagonist confronts her problems directly and resolves them through solidarity with supporters she encounters along the way. “Namnam” centers on a mother and daughter, and differs in that the female characters in both dramas not only take initiative in problem-solving but also directly confront the violence inherent in patriarchal ideology. The protagonists in both dramas proactively address the violence inherent in family relationships, and are not swayed by traditional familial relationships where individual emotions and judgments pursue a single goal. The school violence in and the story of single mothers in can be seen as reflecting the interests of the public and female viewers. The production of dramas that present such discriminatory female narratives stems from the heightened public interest in women’s rights issues and the active participation of women’s communities in Korean society following the “feminism reboot”. Through analysis of the representational methods of characters in dramas, we have discovered that dramas are cultural products that actively intervene in the construction of meaning and values in our lives, and that they play a role in guiding public practice through the interpretation process. This narrative analysis of female characters in dramas will provide a crucial foundation for analyzing the changes and meanings of gender roles in Korean dramas.

본 연구는 드라마 <더 글로리>와 <남남> 속 인물의 정체성과 여성서사 분석을 통해 현재의 가족과 젠더 역할론 그리고 새로운 공동체 형성의 가능성을 살펴보 았다. 분석 결과 학교폭력과 가정폭력, 미혼모 등 현실적 인물과 사건을 중심으로 유사가족으로서의 여성공동체의 가치를 제안하고 있었다. 드라마 <더 글로리>는 등장인물의 선택과 관계성을 보여주는 과정에서 폭력적 수위가 높다는 한계가 있지만, 이러한 사회적 폭력을 극복하는 과정을 통해 차별적 여성서사를 재현하였다. 신데렐라 서사에서 벗어나 주인공 여성이 문제를 직접 대면하고, 그 과정에서 만난 조력자와의 연대해 문제를 해결하였다. 드라마 <남남>은 엄마와 딸을 중심으로 이야기가 전개되는데, 드라마 속 여성 캐릭터 역시 문제해결에 있어서 주체적일뿐만 아니라 가부장제 이데올로기가 갖는 폭력성을 직접 해결한다는 점에서 차이점 을 갖는다. 두 드라마의 주인공은 가족관계가 갖는 폭력성을 주체적으로 해결하며, 개인의 감정과 판단이 하나의 목적을 추구하는 전통적 가족의 관계성에 끌려다 니지 않는다. <더 글로리>의 학교폭력과 <남남>의 미혼모와 싱글맘의 이야기는 대중과 여성시청자의 관심사가 반영된 것이라고 볼 수 있는데, 이처럼 차별적 여성 서사를 보여주는 드라마가 생산될 수 있는 배경에는 ‘페미니즘 리부트’ 이후 한국사회에서 여성인권문제에 대중의 높은 관심과 여성공동체 활동이 활발해졌기 때 문이다. 드라마 속 인물의 재현방식 분석을 통해 드라마는 우리의 삶에 의미와 가치구성에 적극적으로 개입하는 문화생산물이며, 해석 과정에서 대중의 실천을 이 끌어낼 수 있는 역할을 수행한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 드라마 속 여성캐릭터의 서사 분석은 앞으로 국내 드라마 속 젠더 역할론의 변화와 의미를 분석하는 데 중요한 토대를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.
