This paper presents the meaning, characteristics, and practical methods of reading the Bible aloud as an oral interpretation. Biblical interpretation can only be achieved by experiencing the power of the Bible as God's performative Words, which includes its power to create, redeem, heal, and nurture. Although it is possible to experience the power of the Bible through sermons and Bible studies, it can also be experience through reading the Bible aloud without interpretation. Biblical interpretation is not just related to text analysis, but it is also connected to oral interpretation as a practice for listening, with the Bible reading playing an essential part in this context. In today's culture of Biblical interpretation, overly focused on textual criticism, reading the Bible aloud holds significant meaning. The act of analyzing and interpreting the Bible intellectually is not meaningless as these methods are useful for biblical interpretation. Most importantly, textual criticism can serve to correct parts that have been traditionally misinterpreted. However, textual criticism should not be our only lens through which view the Bible. To fully experience the truth, beauty, and wisdom of the Bible, we must cultivate a hermeneutics of skepticism, a hermeneutics of listening that transcends textual criticism. Reading the Bible aloud can serve as significant means to foster this hermeneutics of listening. The Bible was not primarily a book for theology or doctrine; it is a text with strong oral characteristics, designed to be read and recited by everyone. This characteristic has been emphasized by the Reformers and is known as the principle of Bible clarity. This principle asserts that the Bible can be understood not only through the church’s interpretation but also by individuals through the Bible itself and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible possesses a quality that cannot be fully comprehended solely through academic reading. Expert assistance is not always necessary to understand the Bible. Because of these characteristics of the Bible, Reading the Bible aloud has been essential throughout the history of Judaism and Christianity, while lectures or sermons to aid understanding were optional. Throughout church history, reading the Bible aloud was not simply for those unable to read, but it was a valuable method for listening to God's holy Words and experiencing its vitality. Community Bible reading was a common practice not only in the Old and New Testament eras, but also during the Patristic period. Notably, community Bible reading has the effect of bringing written texts to life, allowing participants to vividly experience their contents. This paper emphasizes that reading the Bible aloud is not only an oral interpretation of God's Word, but also a valuable means to attentive listen to the vital power of the Words with both body and mind in a lively manner. Furthermore, it presents practical guidelines for community Bible reading.

본 고는 구두 해석으로서 성경 낭독의 의미와 특징과 실천 방안을 제시한다. 성경 해 석은 하나님의 수행적 말씀으로서 성경의 힘, 즉 창조하고 구속하고 치유하고 양육하 는 힘을 경험하지 않고는 완성될 수 없다. 성경의 힘은 설교와 성경 공부를 통해 경 험할 수 있지만 해석이 가미되지 않은 성경 낭독을 통해서도 경험할 수 있다. 성경 해석은 텍스트 분석과만 관계된 것이 아니라 경청을 위한 구두 해석으로서 성경 낭독 과도 관계된다. 오늘날 지나치게 본문 비평에만 경도된 성경 해석 문화 속에서 성경 낭독은 중요한 의미가 있다. 우리가 성경을 지적으로 분석하며 해석하는 일 자체가 무의미한 것은 아니다. 성경 해석에서 이러한 방법은 유용하다. 무엇보다 본문 비평은 전통적으로 잘못 해석하여 온 부분들을 바로잡는 역할을 할 수 있다. 그러나 본문 비 평이 우리의 유일한 안경은 될 수 없다. 우리는 성경의 진리와 아름다움과 지혜를 충 만하게 경험하기 위해서는 의심의 해석학, 즉 본문 비평을 넘어 경청의 해석학을 길 러야 한다. 성경 낭독은 경청의 해석학을 위한 중요한 방편이 될 수 있다. 성경은 원 래 신학과 교리를 위한 책이 아니라 모든 사람이 스스로 읽고 낭독하도록 구성된 구어의 특성이 강한 책이다. 성경의 이러한 특성은 종교 개혁가들에 의해 강조되었다. 바로 성경의 명료성의 원리다. 이 원리는 교회의 해석뿐 아니라 개개인이 성경 자체 와 성령의 인도하심을 통해 이해할 수 있다는 믿음이다. 성경은 학문적 읽기만을 통 해서는 모두 이해할 수 없는 특성이 있다. 성경을 이해하기 위해서 전문가의 도움이 꼭 필요한 것은 아니다. 성경의 이러한 특성 때문에 유대교와 기독교 역사에서 성경 낭독은 필수적으로 행해졌지만, 성경 이해를 돕는 강론은 선택적이었다. 교회 역사에 서 성경 낭독은 단지 글을 읽지 못한 사람을 위한 것이 아니라 하나님의 거룩한 말씀 을 경청하며 성경의 생명력을 경험하기 위한 소중한 방식이었다. 공동체 성경 낭독은 구약시대와 신약시대뿐 아니라 교부 시대에서도 일반적인 일이었다. 특히 공동체 성 경 낭독은 글로 된 본문을 생동감 있게 해주는 효력이 있다. 본 고는 성경 낭독은 하 나님의 말씀에 대한 구두 해석일 뿐 아니라 몸과 마음으로 말씀의 생명력을 생동감 있게 경청하기 위한 소중한 방식임을 강조할 뿐 아니라 공동체 성경 낭독 실천 방안을 제시한다.
