The purpose of this paper is to analyze the in-depth meaning and aesthetic characteristics inherent in the Taepyeongmu of Han Young-sook by applying the semiotic theory of Saussure and Barthes. As a result of applying Barthes's semantic function model based on the analysis of the meaning of the primary external vision through Saussure's theory, the meanings of yin and yang, heaven and earth, Jeong and Dong, royal court and folk appeared as the secondary implications of Taepyeongmu of Han Young-sook. It can be seen that Taepyeongmu of Han Young-sook is enhancing its cultural value as an intangible heritage acceptable to contemporary people while maintaining the historical nature of Taepyeongmu and the meaning contained in Taepyeongmu of Han Young-sook. The significance of this paper can be found that academic research from a semiotic perspective, one of the analytical methodologies, can serve as the basis for the developmental succession of Taepyeongmu of Han Young-sook style.

본 논문은 소쉬르와 바르트의 기호학 이론을 적용하여 한영숙류 태평무에 내재한 심층의 의미와 미적 특질을 분석하는 것에 목적을 두고 있다. 소쉬르의 이론을 통한 1차적 외시의미 분석을 토대로 바르트의 의미작용 모 델을 적용한 결과, 한영숙류 태평무의 2차적 함축의미로, 음(陰)과 양(陽), 천(天)과 지(地), 정(靜)과 동(動), 궁중 (宮中)과 민속(民俗)의 의미들이 나타났으며, 한영숙류 태평무는 태평무의 역사성과 태평무에 담긴 의미를 지켜 가는 한편, 동시대의 사람들에게 수용될 수 있는 무형유산으로서의 문화적 가치를 높이고 있음을 확인할 수 있 다. 해석적 방법론의 하나인 기호학적 관점의 학술 연구를 통해 한영숙류 태평무의 발전적 계승에 밑거름이 될 수 있다는데 본 논문의 의의를 찾을 수 있다.
