This study explored the perceptions of music therapists and speech-language pathologists regarding the need for developing a vocabulary-learning device incorporating rhythm and melody. A total of 174 professionals 91 music therapists and 83 speech-language pathologists participated in an online survey administered via Google Forms. The questionnaire consisted of 44 items addressing participants’ background information, the perceived importance of vocabulary learning, awareness of rhythm and melody, the necessity of device development, current instructional practices, and specific needs related to vocabulary-learning tools. The findings revealed several key insights. First, vocabulary acquisition was related to listening comprehension, syntactic understanding, and vocabulary expansion, communicative interaction and the expression of spontaneous intent. Second, rhythm and melody were recognized as effective modalities for supporting repeated vocabulary learning in a more engaging and memorable way. Third, The limitations of existing tools highlight the need for the development of a new rhythm and melody-based device. Fourth, although therapists frequently used traditional materials such as vocabulary cards, real objects, and toys in therapy sessions, the use of digital tools and devices remained relatively limited. Finally, there was a strong demand among professionals for a vocabulary-learning device that meaningfully integrates musical elements. These results suggest that the development of a rhythm and melody-based vocabulary-learning device could serve as a valuable therapeutic and educational tool, particularly for enhancing vocabulary acquisition in both children with developmental disabilities and those with typical development.

본 연구는 리듬과 멜로디를 활용한 어휘 학습 디바이스 개발의 필요성에 대한 인식을 조사하는 것 이 목적이다. 총 174명(음악치료사 91명, 언어재활사 83명)의 전문가가 구글 폼(Google Forms)을 통해 온라인 설문에 참여하였다. 설문지는 참가자의 배경 정보, 어휘 학습의 중요성에 대한 인식, 리듬과 멜로디에 대한 인식, 디바이스 개발의 필요성, 현재의 어휘 지도 관련 실태, 어휘 학습 도구 에 대한 구체적 요구 등을 포함한 총 44문항으로 구성하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 어휘 습득은 단순 히 듣기 이해, 구문 처리, 어휘 확장, 의사소통적 상호작용 및 자발적 표현과도 관련된다. 둘째, 리 듬과 멜로디는 반복적인 어휘 학습을 흥미롭고 기억에 남도록 돕는 효과적인 매체이다. 셋째, 기존 도구의 한계로 새로운 리듬과 멜로디 기반 디바이스 개발이 필요하다. 넷째, 치료사들은 어휘 카드, 실물 자료, 장난감 등의 전통적 도구를 주로 활용한다. 마지막으로, 음악적 요소가 통합된 어휘 학 습 디바이스에 대한 수요가 매우 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로, 리듬과 멜로디를 활용한 어휘 학습 디바이스는 발달장애 아동과 일반 아동 모두의 어휘 습득을 향상시키는 유용한 교육 및 치료 도구로서의 가능성을 지닌다고 볼 수 있다.
