This study investigated how elementary school students explore sport-related careers through participation in Sport Education Model (SEM)-based physical education. Twenty-four fifth-grade students from a metropolitan elementary school engaged in SEM classes for one semester. Data were collected via pre-class surveys, participant observation, reflective writing, and in-depth interviews, and analyzed using inductive category analysis. The findings revealed three themes: 1) developing job awareness through diverse roles, 2) gaining authenticity and immersion from season-long experiences, and 3) expanding social competence and envisioning career possibilities. Students came to recognize that sports professions extend beyond athletes to include referees, recorders, announcers, and coaches. These experiences not only enriched their understanding of the sports industry but also encouraged them to imagine future pathways connected to their strengths and interests. The study highlights the potential of physical education to contribute to career education, suggesting that SEM can provide authentic and developmentally meaningful opportunities for young learners.

본 연구는 스포츠교육모형(Sport Education Model, SEM) 기반 체육수업에 참여한 초등학생들이 스포츠 관련 진로를 어떻게 탐색하는지를 탐구하였다. 수도권 D초등학교 5학년 24명을 대상으로 한 학기 동안 SEM 수업을 운영하고, 사전 설문·참여 관찰·반성적 글쓰기·심층 면담을 통해 자료를 수 집하였다. 분석은 귀납적 범주분석을 활용하였다. 그 결과, 학생들의 경험은 ① 다양한 역할 수행을 통한 직업 이해, ② 시즌 단위 운영에서의 실제적 몰입 경험, ③ 협력과 의사소통을 통한 사회적 역 량 확장의 세 가지 주제로 나타났다. 학생들은 심판·기록원·코치·아나운서 등의 역할을 경험하며 선 수만이 스포츠 직업의 전부가 아니라는 인식을 형성하였다. 이러한 결과는 체육수업이 진로교육의 장으로 기능할 수 있는 가능성을 보여주며, 초등학생의 진로 발달 단계에서 중요한 실제적 경험 (authentic experience) 을 제공하는 교육적 가치가 있음을 확인하였다.
