This study aims to develop and implement a statistics poster project for sixth-grade elementary school students and to analyze the characteristics and levels of their statistical literacy. To achieve this, students’ statistical literacy was examined using an analytical framework based on the components of statistical literacy, and pre- and post-tests were conducted to compare and analyze changes in their performance. The results showed differences in students’ statistical literacy levels across specific components, and the comparison of test results revealed statistically significant improvement after the project. These findings suggest that all components and phases of the Statistical Problem Solving Process should be addressed in a balanced manner in statistics education. This study is meaningful in that it demonstrates the positive impact of a statistics poster project, which allows students to engage in the entire process of statistical problem solving, on the development of their statistical literacy.

본 연구는 초등학교 6학년 학생들을 대상으로 통계포스터 제작 프로젝트 수업을 개발하여 적용하고, 학생들의 통계적 소양 양상과 수준을 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해, 통계적 소양 요소 분석틀에 따라 학생들의 통계적 소양 양상을 살펴보았으며, 수업 전후에 통계적 소양 검사를 실시하여 사전, 사후 검사 결과를 비교, 분석하였다. 학생들의 통계적 소양 양상은 각 세부 요소별로 수준의 차이를 보였으며, 통계적 소양 검사 결과 는 학생들의 통계적 소양 수준에 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 이를 통해 통계교육에서 통계적 문제해결 과정의 단계와 모든 세부 요소가 균형있게 다루어 져야 함을 시사하였으며, 통계적 문제해결 과정의 전 단계를 경험하도록 하는 통계포스터 제작 프로젝트 수업이 통계적 소양에 미치는 긍정적 영향을 밝혔다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
