This study seeks to examine the rapid proliferation of military drones in Northeast Asia through multiple theoretical lenses of international relations. By comparing the explanatory power and limitations of realism, liberalism, and constructivism, this research develops an integrated analytical framework to systematically explore the complex drivers behind drone proliferation. The realist perspective highlights interstate power competition and security dilemmas, while the liberal approach emphasizes institutional gaps and economic incentives. The constructivist lens reveals the significance of threat perceptions and identity competition. The findings demonstrate that the complementary integration of these three theories provides a more comprehensive understanding of the multi-layered mechanisms driving drone proliferation than any single theoretical approach. Based on this analysis, the study proposes South Korea's short-, medium-, and long-term drone response strategies along with empirical research methodologies for future investigation.

본 연구는 21세기 들어 급속히 진행되고 있는 동북아시아 군사 드론 확산 현상을 국제관계 이론의 다각적 관 점에서 규명하고자 한다. 현실주의, 자유주의, 구성주의 각각의 설명력과 한계를 비교 분석하고, 이를 통합한 분석 틀 을 제시하여 드론 확산의 복합적 동인을 체계적으로 탐구하였다. 현실주의적 관점에서는 국가 간 힘의 경쟁과 안보 딜레마가, 자유주의적 관점에서는 제도적 공백과 경제적 유인이, 구성주의적 관점에서는 위협 인식과 정체성 경쟁이 주요 동력으로 작용함을 확인하였다. 연구 결과, 단일 이론보다는 세 이론의 상호보완적 통합이 드론 확산의 다층적 메커니즘을 보다 포괄적으로 설명할 수 있음을 논증하였다. 이러한 분석을 바탕으로 한국의 단중장기 드론 대응 전략 과 실증 연구 방안을 제시하였다.
