This study aims to honor the will of ancestors who sacrificed for the independence movement in the Japanese colonial era and to recall the educational meaning to future generations. In the 80 years since liberation, the government has also made various efforts, such as discovering and awarding medals for victims of the independence movement. Among them, this study examines the contents of the resistance of patriots who worked in Gimcheon, Gyeongsangbuk-do as follows. First, among the many martyrs who sacrificed for independence in Japanese colonial era, those who have yet to clearly reveal their great achievements should continue to be discovered in the region and commemorate their noble will. Second, for the future of the Republic of Korea, national identity education that conveys the spirit of resistance of our ancestors to future generations is necessary, and education that moves in real life should be recognized. Third, both local governments and school education should recognize that activities honoring the noble will of their predecessors are the foundation not only for regional development but also for the development of the country. Fourth, local governments should establish memorial halls, historic sites, and parks to honor the will of their predecessors, who persisted in overcoming the difficult environment while resisting Japanese colonial era, so that living education can be provided to their descendants. Fifth, local governments should continue their educational efforts to promote remembrance and efforts for their predecessors through various media and to promote solid security for the future and the determination and consciousness that our region is at the forefront

이 연구는 일제강점기에 독립운동을 위해 희생하신 선열들의 뜻을 기리고, 후세들에게 교육적 의미를 되새 기고자 한 것이다. 광복이후 80년이 흐르는 동안 정부에서도 독립운동 희생자들을 위한 발굴과 훈장수여 등의 각종 노력을 전개하여 왔다. 이 연구는 경북 김천지역에서 활동하였던 애국지사의 저항에 대한 내용을 문헌을 통해 살펴보고, 후손들이 조상의 얼을 기억하고자 하는 노력에 의미를 두었다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 일제강점기에 자주독립을 위해 희생한 많은 열사들 중 커다란 업적이 명확하게 드러나지 않은 분들도 지 역에서 발굴하여, 그분들의 숭고한 뜻을 기리는 것은 지속되어야 한다는 데 있다. 둘째, 대한민국의 미래를 위 해 선조들의 저항정신을 후손들에게 전달하는 민족정체성 교육이 필요하며, 실생활에서 살아 움직이는 교육이 되어야 한다는 점이다. 셋째, 지자체와 학교교육 모두 선열들의 숭고한 뜻을 기리는 활동은 지역발전뿐만 아니 라 국가의 발전을 위한 토대라는 점이 인식해야 한다. 넷째, 지자체에서는 일제강점기에 저항하면서 끈질기게 어려운 환경을 극복해 내었던 선열들의 뜻을 기리는 추모관이나 유적지, 공원 등을 설치하여 후손들에게 살아 있는 교육이 이루어질 수 있도록 노력해야 한다. 다섯째, 지자체는 선열들에 대한 추모와 노력을 각종 매체를 통하여 홍보하고, 미래를 위한 굳건한 안보와 우리 지역이 곧 최일선이라는 각오와 의식을 고취하는 교육적 노 력을 지속해야 한다.
