This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a cognitive activity program for elderly individuals receiving home care through a home-visiting care center. To investigate this research problem, 20 elderly participants aged 65 and older, who were recommended for cognitive activities by the National Health Insurance, were divided into a program participation group and a non-participation group. A pre- and post-experimental design test, utilizing the Cognitive Impairment Screening Test (CIST), was conducted with the non-identical control group. The results indicated that the participating group exhibited increased scores in the sub-areas of attention, executive function, memory, and language function, as well as an overall improvement in the total CIST score. In contrast, the non-participating group showed no significant changes in most areas. These findings suggest that the cognitive activity program effectively supports the maintenance and enhancement of cognitive function among elderly individuals utilizing visiting care services. The study highlights social welfare implications that can foster recognition and participation in the program by demonstrating its necessity and effectiveness within the context of visiting care services.

본 연구는 방문요양센터를 이용하는 재가 노인을 대상으로 인지활동 프로그램의 효과성을 검증하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서 검증하고자 한 연구 문제를 위하여 수도권 소재 방문요양센터 이용 노인 중, 국민건강 보험에서 인지활동을 권유받은 만 65세 이상 노인 20명을 대상으로 프로그램 참여집단과 비참여집단으로 나누어 인지선별검사(CIST)를 활용한 유사실험설계의 비동일성 통제집단 사전·사후 전후실험설계 검사를 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 참여집단은 인지선별검사(CIST)의 총점뿐만 아니라 주의력, 집 행기능, 기억력, 언어기능의 하위 영역의 점수가 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 그러나, 비참여집단은 대부분의 영역에서 유의한 변화가 없었다. 이러한 결과는 인지활동 프로그램이 방문요양 서비스를 이용하는 노인의 인지기능 유지 및 향상에 기여하고 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 본 연구는 방문요양서비스에서 인지활동 프로그램 참여의 필요성과 효과성을 검증하여 프로그램의 인식과 참여를 도모할 수 있는 사회복지적 함의를 도출하였다.
