The purpose of this study is to explore the experiences of adult learners who participated in the RC extracurricular art education program and to identify the learning and emotional changes that emerged in the process. While adult learning has recently tended to focus on professional competencies and qualification acquisition, this study aims to shed light on the potential of art-based extracurricular activities to foster self-reflection, emotional healing, and social relationship building among adult learners. The research applied Moustakas(1990) heuristic inquiry. The researcher designed and implemented the RC art program, collecting data through participant observation, individual interviews, research journals, and analysis of learners artworks. The collected data were repeatedly analyzed to derive core themes, and triangulation was employed to ensure trustworthiness. The findings indicate that adult learners, first, overcame initial unfamiliarity and regained confidence in their learning attitudes; second, enhanced self-understanding and reflection through interactions with artistic materials; third, experienced emotional stability and flow, leading to psychological recovery; and fourth, expanded personal experiences into communal meaning through sharing and exhibiting their works. These results suggest that, in a digital-fatigued contemporary society, hands-on art activities go beyond leisure pursuits to contribute to quality of life, identity reconstruction, and the strengthening of social bonds. Furthermore, this study highlights the need for adult education and lifelong learning policies to expand beyond functional and economic objectives toward holistic learning models that incorporate art and emotion.

본 연구의 목적은 RC 비교과 미술교육 프로그램에 참여한 성인 학습자의 경험을 탐색하 고 그 과정에서 나타나는 학습적, 정서적 변화를 규명하는 데 있다. 최근 성인학습은 직업 역량이나 자격 취득에 치중하는 경향이 강하나 본 연구는 미술 기반 비교과 활동을 통해 성인의 자기 성찰, 정서적 치유, 사회적 관계 형성에 기여할 수 있는 가능성을 조명하고자 하였다. 연구 방법은 무스타카스(1990)의 휴리스틱 리서치를 적용하였다. 연구자는 RC 교 육과정 내에서 진행된 미술 프로그램을 직접 기획하고 운영하면서 참여 관찰, 개별 면담, 연구일지, 결과물 분석을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 반복적 분석을 통해 주 제를 도출하였고, 삼각검증을 통해 신뢰도를 확보하였다. 연구 결과 성인 학습자들은 첫째, 낯섦을 극복하고 학습 태도에서 자신감을 회복하였으 며, 둘째, 재료와의 상호작용 속에서 자기 이해와 성찰을 촉진하였다. 셋째, 창작 과정에서 정서적 안정과 몰입(flow)을 경험하여 심리적 회복을 얻었으며, 넷째, 작품 공유와 전시를 통해 개인적 경험을 공동체적 의미로 확장하였다. 이러한 결과는 디지털 피로가 심화되는 현대 사회에서 손으로 하는 미술 활동이 단순한 여가 활동을 넘어 성인의 삶의 질 향상, 정체성 재구성, 사회적 연대 강화에 기여할 수 있음을 시사한다. 또한 본 연구는 성인교육 및 평생학습 정책이 기능적, 경제적 목표를 넘어 예술과 정서를 포함하는 전인적 학습 모 델로 확장될 필요성을 제기한다.
