The purpose of this paper is to examine the aspect of the Earth as a commons in Park Yong-ha’s 1990s poetry. Park Yong-ha’s poetry stands out for its social and political imagination that faithfully reveals the reality of the 1990s. In particular, he shows a pattern of hope for recovery, along with carrying out criticism and attacks in the 1990s. In other words, it can be said that Park Yong-ha’s poem embodies the reality of the 1990s in multi-layers, and the expression that represents this well is the earth. The Earth turns out to be the site of violence and poverty contaminated and lost by capital and machinery, and on the other hand, it turns out to be a primitive and vital space that we need to recover. To examine this, the concept of commons is used in this paper. Commons refers to common land, common goods, and shared resources, and is a concept that encompasses common resources, territories, values, relationships, and institutions. In other words, I would like to examine the social and political imagination of Park Yong-ha’s 1990s poetry through the Commons, which was nationalized, privatized, and commercialized according to the trend of capitalism and neoliberalism. The meaning of this paper is as follows. First, there is a need for a rich discussion of Park Yong-ha’s poems in the 1990s, which have been insufficiently discussed. Second, it is necessary to pay attention to the social and political imagination of Park Yong-ha’s poems in the 1990s, and Commons is a concept that can effectively examine them. Third, examining the social and political imagination of poems in the 1990s is beneficial to examining poems in the 2020s.

이 논문은 박용하의 1990년대 시에 나타나는 커먼즈로서의 지구의 양상을 살피는 데 목적을 둔다. 박용하의 시는 1990년대의 시대 현실을 여실하게 드러내는 사회적, 정치적 상상력이 두드러진다. 특히 그는 1990 년대에의 비판과 공격을 감행하면서, 회복을 기도하는 희망의 양상을 보 인다. 즉 박용하의 시는 1990년대의 시대 현실을 다층적으로 형상화하고 있다고 할 수 있는데, 이를 잘 나타내는 언표가 지구이다. 지구는 자본과 기계로 인해 오염되고 손실된 폭력과 피폐의 현장으로 드러나고, 또 한편 으로 우리가 회복하여야 할 원초적이고 생명력 깃든 공간으로 드러난다. 이를 살피기 위해, 이 논문에서는 커먼즈 개념을 활용한다. 커먼즈는 공 유지, 공유재, 공유자원 등을 의미하며, 공통의 자원, 영토, 가치, 관계, 제도 등을 아우르는 개념이다. 즉 자본주의, 신자유주의적 흐름에 따라 국유화, 사유화, 상품화되기도 한 커먼즈를 통해, 박용하의 1990년대 시 가 나타내는 사회적, 정치적 상상력을 살펴보고자 한다. 이로써 얻을 수 있는 이 논문의 유의미는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 그동안 미흡하게 논의된 박용하의 1990년대 시에 대한 풍부한 논의가 필요하다. 둘째, 박용하의 1990년대 시를 비롯한 1990년대 시의 사회적, 정치적 상상력을 주목할 필요가 크며, 그를 효과적으로 살필 수 있는 개념이 커먼즈이다. 셋째, 1990년대 시의 사회적, 정치적 상상력을 살피는 작업은 2020년대의 시를 살피는 데 이롭게 작용한다.
