This study empirically investigates the effects of innovation strategy on technological capability and firm performance in small and medium-sized venture enterprises(SMVEs), while also examining the moderating roles of network usefulness and aggressive investment. Previous studies have largely focused on the independent relationships between innovation strategy, capabilities, and performance, often neglecting an integrated model that considers interaction effects with external resources. To address this gap, this study conceptualizes innovation strategy as a composite of three sub-strategies: cost leadership, value enhancement, and business model innovation. The empirical analysis uses data from the 2023 Korea Venture Business Survey, focusing on 480 SMVEs engaged in international markets. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling(PLS-SEM) was applied to test the proposed relationships. The analysis incorporates variable standardization, multiple imputation using MICE, and sensitivity analysis to ensure statistical reliability and robustness. The results show that innovation strategy positively influences both technological capability and firm performance, and that technological capability also contributes significantly to performance. Moreover, both network usefulness and aggressive investment demonstrate significant moderating effects in the relationships between innovation strategy and technological capability, and between technological capability and firm performance. These findings highlight that the effectiveness of strategic execution in SMVEs depends not only on internal resources but also on the quality of external collaboration and the intensity of resource commitment. The study offers both theoretical and managerial implications for enhancing strategic decision-making, resource utilization, and innovation capacity in SMVEs.

본 연구는 중소벤처기업의 혁신전략이 기술 역량과 기업성과에 미치는 영향을 실증 분석하고, 이 경로에서 네트워크 유용성과 공격적 투 자의 조절 효과를 살펴보았다. 기존 중소벤처기업 관련 연구는 혁신전략과 기술 역량, 성과 간의 개별 관계에 집중하거나 단일 요인 중심으로 분석을 수행해 왔으며, 전략, 역량, 성과 간의 통합하고 외부 요인의 조절 효과를 통합하여 분석한 경우는 부족하였다. 본 연구는 이러한 점을 보완하려 원가 우위, 고부가가치화, 비즈니스모델 혁신을 혁신전략의 측정 도구로 사용하여 분석을 수행하였다. 분석자료는 2023년 벤처기 업정밀실태조사 데이터를 활용하였으며, 해외시장에 진출한 480개 중소벤처기업을 표본으로 설정하였다. 변수 간 관계 검증에는 부분최소 자승 구조방정식(PLS-SEM)을 사용하였으며, 분석 과정에서 변수 표준화와 결측값 다중대체(MICE), 민감도 분석 등을 병행하여 통계적 타 당성을 확보하였다. 분석 결과, 혁신전략은 기술 역량과 기업성과에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치며, 기술 역량 또한 기업성과에 유의미한 영 향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 더불어 네트워크 유용성과 공격적 투자는 혁신전략과 기술 역량, 기술 역량과 성과 간 관계 모두에서 유의한 조절 효과를 보여주었다. 이는 중소벤처기업의 전략 실행이 내부 자원뿐 아니라 외부 협력 및 자원 투입 수준에 따라 그 효과가 달라질 수 있음을 의미한다. 본 연구는 중소벤처기업의 전략적 의사결정과 외부 협력, 기술역량 개발에 관한 실천적 함의를 제시하며, 향후 관련 연구의 이론적 기반을 제공한다.
