This study examines K-Pop Demon Hunters (2025), a Netflix original animated film, as a case of convergence between the heterogeneous cultural domains of K-POP and animation. It explores how cultural capital is strategically mobilized through narrative, audiovisual aesthetics, industrial strategies, and audience practices. Applying Pierre Bourdieu’s concepts of field, capital, and habitus, the study conducts a qualitative cultural analysis across three levels: textual structure, industrial framework, and audience reception. The film integrates K-POP idol narratives with Korean shamanism, fantasy, musical, and action genres, forming a hybrid content structure. Findings reveal that the work combines the performativity and affect of K-POP with the visual fantasy of animation and traditional symbolic systems to construct a distinctive genre and narrative form. The portrayal of the girl group “Huntress,” who act as both idols and exorcists, exemplifies the transformation of traditional cultural capital into symbolic capital within the K-POP field. In addition, the use of real idol OSTs, fan-made DIY content, and the spread of meme culture illustrate the expansion of cultural capital into economic capital. Fandom and global audience habitus shape the interpretation and consumption of the content, contributing to the fluidity of cultural perception and the emergence of new symbolic orders. Ultimately, this study demonstrates how cultural fields intersect and how cultural capital is dynamically converted within media content, offering insight into the globalization strategies and sociocultural significance of K-content. Future research should extend this framework to comparative analyses of hybrid cultural products and empirical studies on audience engagement.

본 연구는 넷플릭스 오리지널 애니메이션 영화 <케이팝 데몬 헌터스>(2025)를 사례로, K-POP과 애니메이션이라는 이질적인 문화 영역이 어떻게 접합되는지, 그리고 이 과정에서 문화자본이 내러티브, 시청각 형식, 산업 전략, 수용자 실천 등을 통해 어떻게 전략적으로 활용되는지를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 Bourdieu의 개 념을 이론적 틀로 적용하고, 콘텐츠 내부의 장르 혼종성, 문화자본의 전환, 수용자 감각 체계와의 상호작용을 정성적 문화분석을 통해 통합적으로 고찰하였다. 분 석 대상인 <케이팝 데몬 헌터스>는 K-POP 아이돌 서사에 무속신앙, 판타지, 뮤지컬, 액션 등 다양한 장르가 결합된 하이브리드 콘텐츠로, 텍스트 구조, 산업 구조, 수용자 실천의 세 층위에서 분석되었다. 분석 결과, 본 작품은 K-POP의 공연성과 팬덤 감수성, 애니메이션 장르의 시청각적 판타지, 전통문화의 상징체계를 유기 적으로 융합하여 독창적인 장르 혼종성과 서사 구조를 형성하고 있었다. 특히 여성 아이돌 그룹 ‘헌트릭스’의 공연과 퇴마 서사는 K-POP 장의 상징성과 전통문화 자본이 결합된 사례로 기능하며, 실존 아이돌 그룹의 OST 참여, 팬 제작 DIY 콘텐츠, 밈 콘텐츠의 확산 등은 문화자본이 산업자본으로 확장되는 실천 양상을 보여 준다. 또한 팬덤 문화와 글로벌 수용자의 아비투스는 콘텐츠의 해석과 소비 방식에 영향을 미치며, 문화 감각 체계의 유동성과 새로운 상징 질서의 형성에 기여하 고 있었다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 콘텐츠 내부에서 문화의 장이 어떻게 융합되고 충돌하며, 그 속에서 문화자본이 전략적으로 전환되는지를 이론적·실증적으로 분 석하였다. 특히 콘텐츠가 수용자의 아비투스와의 상호작용을 통해 상징자본과 경제자본으로 확장되는 동적인 문화 실천의 장으로 기능하고 있음을 밝힘으로써, K- 콘텐츠의 글로벌화 전략과 문화·사회학적 의미에 대한 심층적 이해를 제시하였다. 향후 연구에서는 본 연구의 분석 틀을 바탕으로 유사한 형식의 혼종 콘텐츠에 대 한 비교 분석과 수용자 실천에 대한 실증적 연구가 요구된다.
