This study aims to analyze the factors that influence young artists' perceptions of artistic activities, noting that young artists dream of continuing their artistic activities despite the harsh economic conditions they face. To this end, a hierarchical multiple regression analysis was conducted on the data from the 2019 Seoul City Young Artists' Policy Direction Opinion Survey, and three categories of artistic labor (Model 1), Korean art scene characteristics (Model 2), and artistic activity identity (Model 3) were used to analyze the effects of gender and generation. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, the income variable had no effect in all groups. Second, the explanatory power of Model 3 for men and Model 2 for women was the highest, suggesting that women are more sensitive to the specificities of the Korean art scene, such as public art support and hierarchical violence, than men. Third, the older generation showed the greatest explanatory power in Model 1, indicating that belonging to the traditional art ecosystem was important, while the younger generation showed the greatest explanatory power in Model 2, indicating that the specificity of the Korean art scene was the most important factor. To sum up, the art labor market for young artists is gendered, and the influence of public art support is under strong pressure to replace the logic of the existing ecosystem, and new creations such as social art are becoming more active.

본 연구는 청년예술인이 처한 척박한 경제적 상황에도 불구하고 이들이 지속적인 예술활동을 꿈꾼다는 사실에 주 목해, 청년예술인의 예술활동 인식에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 2019년 <서울 시 청년예술인 정책방향 의견조사> 자료에 대해 위계적 다중회귀분석을 실시하였으며, 예술노동(모형1), 한국 예술계 특성(모형2), 예술활동 정체성(모형3)의 세 범주로 단계를 설정하여 성별, 활동연차별 효과를 분석하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 모든 집단에서 소득 변수는 영향을 미치지 않았다. 둘째, 남성은 모형3, 여성은 모형2의 설명력이 가장 큰 것으로 나타나 남성보다 여성이 공공 예술지원이나 위계 폭력 같은 한국 예술계의 특수성에 더 민감하게 반 응하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 다년차그룹은 모형1의 설명력이 가장 큰 것으로 나타나 전통적 예술 생태계의 소속 여부가 중요한 반면, 저년차그룹은 모형2의 한국 예술계의 특수성이 가장 설명력이 컸다. 이를 정리하면, 청년예술인 의 예술노동 시장은 성별화되어 있으며, 공공 예술지원의 영향력이 기존 생태계의 논리를 대체하려는 압박이 강하게 작용하는 가운데 사회적 예술 등 새로운 창작이 더 활성화되고 있다.
