This paper examines the everyday life of Song Jun-gil during his youth, focusing on his personal journal 『Songdongchun Supil Ilrok(宋同春手筆日錄)』, a daily record written by Song Jungil. Despite covering a relatively short span— from the 12th year of King Injo’s reign (1634) to February of the 14th year (1636)—the journal offers a vivid and detailed portrayal of his life, making it a valuable source for understanding the candid daily experiences of a 17th-century intellectual hermit(山林). The Song family, to which Song Jungil belonged, was a prominent families of the scholar-officials(士族) based in Hoedeok(懷德) Songchon(宋村). They maintained steady ties with the central government through official appointments and intermarriage. Although Song Jungil displayed early promise—passing the licentiate examination(小科) and showing his potential ability as a bureaucrat— he chose to abandon the civil service examinations and return to his hometown around the age of 24 to 25(Injo 7-8, 1629-1630). Remarkably, this decision came at a relatively young age, indicating his deliberate pursuit of a reclusive scholarly life in the countryside. The 『Ilrok』 begins when Song was 29 years old and captures the early phase of his rural life. Despite its brevity, the journal illustrates his diverse activities across different locales, including Hoedeok, Sangju(尙州), and Hanyang(漢陽). His youth was marked by active engagement across both the Giho(畿湖) and Yeongnam(嶺南) regions, where he formed broad interpersonal networks regardless of political factionalism. He not only built connections with diverse individuals but also played a central role within various scholarly circles, establishing his intellectual authority. During this period, he visited to Hanyang to strengthen old ties and expand new networks, which would later prove instrumental in his eventual entry into central government service.

본 논문은 동춘당 송준길의 생활 일기인 『송동춘수필일록』을 중심으로 그의 청년기 생활상을 살펴보기 위해 작성되었다. 해당 자료는 인조 12년(1634)부터 인조 14년(1636) 2월까지의 짧은 기간을 기록한 것임에도 불구하고 저자의 세세한 일상을 담고 있다는 점에서 17세기를 대표하는 산림 송준길의 솔직한 일상을 살펴볼 수 있는 자료이다. 송준길 일가는 충청도 회덕의 송촌에 자리잡은 사족이었으며 꾸준히 중앙 정계로 진출하고 중앙관료가와 통혼하였다. 그 역시도 일찍이 소과에 입격하여 현달할 자질을 보였지만 과거급제를 포기하고 24~25세[인조 7년(1629)~인조 8년(1630)] 무렵 회덕으로 낙향하였다. 이 시기는 과거를 단념하기에 다소 이른 나이였음에도 향촌 처사로서의 삶을 지향하였다. 『일록』은 향촌 생활을 시작한 초기인 29세부터 일상을 기록하고 있는데, 비교적 짧은 기간의 기록이지만 회덕, 상주, 한양 등 다양한 공간에서 활동하던 그의 일상을 확인할 수 있다. 송준길의 청년기는 기호지역과 영남지역을 종유하며 당색을 가리지 않고 다양한 인물들과 교유하고 여러 학파 내에서도 중추적인 역할을 하며 권위를 세워가던 시기였다고 할 수 있다. 동시에 한양으로 나아가 여러 인물들과 교유하며 기존의 관계를 돈독히 하면서도 새로운 인물들과의 네트워크를 확장해 나가고 있었다. 그러한 네트워크는 추후 그가 중앙으로 징소되어 활약하였던 것과 무관하지 않다.
