This study investigates the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) competency on life satisfaction, focusing on the moderating roles of technological optimism and pessimism. Employing an empirical analysis, the study reveals that key dimensions of AI competency-namely, AI functional identification, AI learnability, critical evaluation of AI, and the ability to assess the appropriateness of AI solutions-exert a generally positive effect on life satisfaction. In contrast, awareness of AI-related information security and risk perception are partially associated with negative impacts on life satisfaction. Furthermore, while technological optimism positively contributes to life satisfaction overall, its interaction with AI learnability unexpectedly yields negative effects on certain aspects of life satisfaction. This suggests that excessive optimism toward technology may, in some cases, undermine the benefits of a learning-oriented disposition. Technological pessimism also demonstrates a modest positive effect on life satisfaction in specific domains, although its interaction with AI functional identification indicates some negative implications. These findings highlight the pivotal role of technological orientation in moderating the relationship between AI competency and life satisfaction. In light of these results, the study proposes the following policy implications: (1) the development of AI literacy education frameworks grounded in critical thinking to enhance competencies such as functional understanding and critical evaluation of AI; (2) the promotion of a balanced attitude toward technology that incorporates ethical reasoning and risk awareness, thereby mitigating uncritical optimism; and (3) the strategic reinterpretation of technological pessimism as a potential driver for narrowing the digital divide and fostering civic engagement. Furthermore, differentiated policy measures and evaluation systems should be established to account for the varying effects of specific AI competencies on life satisfaction.

본 연구는 인공지능(AI) 역량이 삶의 만족에 미치는 영향에 대해 기술적 낙관주의 및 비관주의를 조절변수로 설정하여 변수들의 관계를 분석하고자 하였다. 분석 결과, AI 기능 식별 및 AI 학습성, AI 비판적 평가와 AI 솔루션 적합성 판단은 전반적으로 삶의 만족에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤으며, AI 정보 보안 인식과 AI 위험 인식은 일부 삶의 만족에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 기술 적 낙관주의는 삶의 만족을 높이는 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 반면, AI 학습성과의 상호작용항은 오히 려 일부 삶의 만족에 부정적인 영향을 주어 지나친 낙관주의 하에 학습 성향은 삶의 만족에 부정적 인 효과를 나타낼 수 있음을 시사하였다. 한편, 기술적 비관주의 역시 일부 삶의 만족에 긍정적인 효 과를 보였으며, AI 기능 식별과의 상호작용은 일부 부정적인 효과를 나타내었다. 이처럼 기술적 정향 은 AI 역량과 삶의 만족 간 관계를 조절하는 중요한 요인으로 작용함을 발견한 바, 이를 토대로 다음 정책 방향을 제안하고자 한다. 우선, 삶의 만족 향상에 기여할 수 있는 AI 기능 이해와 비판적 평가 역량 강화를 위해 비판적 사고 중심의 AI 리터러시 교육 체계를 구축할 필요가 있다. 또한, 기술에 대 한 과도한 낙관을 경계하며 윤리적 판단과 위험 인식을 포함한 균형잡힌 기술 수용 태도의 형성이 중요하다. 아울러, 기술적 비관주의를 디지털 격차 해소와 참여 동기 활성화로 전환하도록 재해석하 고, AI 역량별로 삶의 만족에 미치는 영향을 고려한 맞춤형 정책 및 평가체계를 마련해야 한다.
