The purpose of this study is to suggest policies through an empirical study targeting current police officers on ways to activate community security. The subjects of the survey were police officers nationwide, and the sample was extracted through simple random sampling. Currently, a survey using the self-evaluation method was conducted on 160 male and female police officers. Based on the previous studies and survey results discussed above, this study aims to make the following policy suggestions for revitalizing community security. First, strengthening traffic safety. In order to improve traffic safety, it is necessary to increase the number of traffic police officers, and in addition, reinforcement of traffic safety facilities in local governments should be done first. Second, enhancing police trust. In order to enhance police trust, regular education related to police trust should be conducted, and in particular, various programs related to police trust should be developed and distributed. Third, strengthening police public relations. In order to strengthen police public relations, more proactive public relations activities are needed than before, and specifically, measures should be devised to actively promote the necessity of community security, police activities, and best practices in each region. Fourth, strengthening education on community security. In order to activate community security, police officers need to change their perception of the importance of community security, as well as the methods and effects.

본 연구는 공동체 치안의 활성화 방안에 대해 현직 경찰공무원들을 대상으로 한 실 증연구를 통해 정책 제언을 하고자 함에 목적이 있다. 조사의 대상은 전국 경찰관들을 대상으로 선정하였으며, 단순 무작위 표출방법(simple random sampling)을 통해 표본 을 추출하였다. 현재 경찰관 남녀 160명을 대상으로 자기평가 기입법을 통한 설문조사 를 실시하였다. 본 연구는 이상에서 고찰한 선행연구와 설문조사 결과를 토대로 다음과 같이 공동 체 치안 활성화를 위한 정책적 제언을 하고자 한다. 첫째, 교통안전 강화이다. 교통안전 개선을 위해서는 무엇보다도 교통경찰의 증원이 필요하며, 아울러 지방자치단체에서의 교통안전 시설 보강 등이 선행되어야 한다. 둘째, 경찰신뢰도 제고이다. 경찰 신뢰도 제고를 위해서는 경찰 신뢰도와 관련된 정 기적인 교육이 진행되어야 하며, 특히, 경찰신뢰도 관련다양한 프로그램의개발및 보 급이 이루어져야 한다. 셋째, 경찰홍보 강화이다. 경찰홍보 강화를 위해서는 이전보다는 선제적인 홍보활동이 필요하며, 구체적으로는 공동체 치안의 필요성을비롯하여 경찰의 활동상과 각지역 별 우수사례를 적극적으로 홍보하는 방안이 강구되어야 한다. 넷째, 공동체 치안에 대한 교육 강화이다. 공동체 치안의 활성화를 위해서는 경찰관 들이 공동체 치안의 중요성을 비롯하여 방법과 효과 등에 대한 인식의 전환이 필요하다.
