This study sought to move beyond the limits of conventional political? and social?scientific approaches by empirically examining the concrete effects of a humanities?based intervention?philosophical counseling?on Korea's conflict structures. To this end, we implemented an explanatory sequential mixed?methods design, conducting four weekly group counseling sessions (n = 30) and performing thematic analysis on session transcripts and reflective journals. We then administered pre? and post?tests using three scales?Political Polarization, Cultural Self-Construal, and Philosophical Reflection?to the same participants in order to verify the intervention's effects. Qualitative analysis yielded four themes: self-reflection, perspective-taking, reconstruction of communal ethics, and conflict insight. Quantitative results likewise showed statistically significant changes on all three scales (p < .001). These findings suggest that philosophical counseling, as a thinking?based humanities intervention, can transcend mere discussion or mediation to foster critical reflection on political polarization and help restore the possibility of coexistence with others.

본 연구는 기존 정치⋅사회학적 접근의 한계를 넘어, 철학상담의 인문학적 개입이한국 사회의 갈등 구조에 미치는 실질적 효과를 실증적으로 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해설명적 순차 혼합연구 설계를 기반으로 철학상담 집단세션(4주, 4회기, n=30)을 실시하고, 전사자료 및 성찰일지를 바탕으로 주제 분석을 수행하였다. 이후 동일 참여자를 대상으로정치적 분열 척도, 문화적 자아구성 척도, 철학적 성찰 척도에 대한 사전⋅사후 설문을시행하여 효과를 검증하였다. 질적 분석에서는 자기성찰, 타인 관점 수용, 공동체 윤리재구성, 갈등 통찰이라는 네 가지 주제가 도출되었고, 양적 분석에서도 세 척도 모두 유의미한변화가 확인되었다(p<.001). 본 연구는 철학상담이 단순한 토론이나 중재를 넘어, 사유기반의 인문학적 개입으로서 정치적 분열을 성찰하고 타인과의 공존 가능성을 회복하는 데기여할 수 있음을 시사한다.
