In this paper, a new artificial intelligence competency was defined by analyzing the competencies related to the software curriculum and curriculum presented in the 2015 revised curriculum of elementary school. In addition, the STEAM-based AI convergence program was developed to cultivate AI's artificial intelligence capabilities by reorganizing the curriculum by finding the operating principles of AI, educational contents, or learning experiences of AI converging with STEAM. The program was developed based on the ADDIE model, and the artificial intelligence capabilities of students before and after class were examined and analyzed. As a result of the analysis, the STEAM-based AI convergence program showed significant results in improving the artificial intelligence capabilities of elementary school students and improved positive perception of artificial intelligence education for elementary school students.

본 논문은 초등학교 2015 개정 교육과정에서 제시되고 있는 소프트웨어 교육과 실과 교과 관련 역량을 분석 하여 새로운 인공지능 역량을 정의하였다. 또한 AI의 작동 원리, AI에 대한 교육내용이나 학습경험이 STEAM 과 융합되는 내용을 찾아 교육과정을 재구성하여 초등학생 인공지능 역량 함양을 위한 STEAM 기반 AI 융합프 로그램을 개발하였다. ADDIE 모형을 기반으로 프로그램을 개발하고 수업 사전, 사후 학생의 인공지능 역량을 검사하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과 STEAM 기반 AI융합프로그램은 초등학생의 인공지능 역량 향상에 유의미한 결과를 보였으며 초등학생 인공지능 교육에 대한 긍정적 인식 향상을 보였다.
