Korea has been in the same line with the increasing trend of global population of dementia. In order to provide better service for the increasing dementia, Goverment is preparing for the social insurance for the aged in 2008. However, with the budget shortage and insufficient number of experts, it is hard to provide high quality service for the patients. In addition, it results in heavier burden of the employee working in the institution. Therefore the goals of this study are to identify the employee’s care burden according to the dementia’s behavior type, which is the most difficult problem to care the dementia and what kind of education and training is needed to the employee.The results are as follows: First, the dementia’s destructive behavior is the biggest burden to the employee. Second, they are complaining of lack of the work force. Finally, they want to participate in the practical education related to the care skills. Therefore, it is necessary to research care method for the dementia and strengthen the education and training for the prevention of the dementia’s behavior problems. These will be enhance the employee’s care ability and then these are linked to the high quality service provision. In addition, the professional care service provider will be increase the quality of life of the dementia’s family.

전 세계적으로 치매인구가 증가하는 추세는 우리나라도 예외가 아니다. 이를 위해 2008년도부터 노인수발보험을 실시할 예정이지만, 재정지원 미비와 전문인력의 부족으로 인해 노인에 대한 질 높은 서비스의 제공이 어렵고, 장기․단기․주간보호시설에서 근무하는 종사자들의 고충이 야기되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 치매노인케어 종사자에 대한 연구에 있어서 가장 선행되어야 할 내용으로, 치매노인의 문제행동에 유형에 따른 종사자의 케어부담 정도를 파악하고, 종사자들이 케어서비스를 제공함에 있어서 가장 힘든 부분은 무엇인지와 치매노인 케어에 있어서 필요한 교육과 훈련에는 어떠한 내용들이 있는지 파악하고자 하였다.
