The purpose of this study was to develop an awareness in oral health education importance by assessing the level of practice, knowledge, and educational needs related to oral health among students in department of early childhood education, who are key personnel in promoting oral health among young children. A total of 123 students majoring in early childhood education were selected through convenience sampling and their responses were analyzed. The findings revealed that participants demonstrated a high level of oral health-related practices, particularly in tooth brushing behaviors. Similarly, knowledge regarding toothbrushing was found to be relatively high. Educational needs were generally high across all areas. According to academic year, third-year students showed the highest levels of both practice and knowledge, while second-year students reported the highest educational needs. Correlation analysis revealed significant relationships among practice, knowledge, and educational needs, indicating that higher oral health practices among pre-service kindergarten teachers were significantly associated with greater knowledge and educational needs.

본 연구는 학령 전 아동기의 구강건강과 관련된 인력인 예비유치원 교사인 유아교육과 재학생을 대상으로 구강건강 관련 실천도와 구강보건관련 내용에 대한 지식도 및 교육요구도를 파악하여 구강보건교육의 중요성을 인식시키고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 3년제 유아교육과에 재학중인 학생들을 임의 표본 추출방법으로 조사하였으며, 123부의 설문지를 최종 분석하여 다음과 같은 연구결과를 얻었다. 구강건강관련 실천도에서 칫솔질과 관련된 구강 건강행동은 높은 실천도를 보였고, 구강건강관련 지식도에서는 칫솔질에 대한 지식도가 높았으며, 구강보건교육 요구도는 전반적으로 모든 항목에서 높은 수준을 보였다. 학년별 구강건강 실천도, 지식도, 요구도의 차이에서는 실천도와 지식도는 3학년이 가장 높게 나타났으며, 교육요구도는 2학년이 가장 높았다. 실천도, 지식도, 요구도 간의 상관분석을 시행한 결과 유아교육과 학생들의 구강건강 관련 실천도가 지식도와 교육요구도와 유의한 상관관 계를 가지는 것으로 확인되었다.
