This study was conducted to identify the levels of social anxiety, social support, and school adaptation of students in the upper grades of a newly established elementary school, to identify the relationships between variables, and to provide implications for students' school adaptation. Data were collected from 332 students in 16 classes in grades 4-6 of S Elementary School in Region C, which was newly established in March 2025, and data from 291 students were processed using SPSS and AMOS programs. Basic statistics of the main variables were presented, correlation analysis was performed, and a structural equation model was then established. The results of this study are as follows. First, it was confirmed that there was a correlation between social anxiety, social support, and school adaptation, and most of the sub-variables also had a correlation. Second, the structural relationship among social anxiety, social support, and school adaptation had an appropriate research model fit, and factor loadings were also derived appropriately. Third, the path from social anxiety to social support and the path from social support to school adaptation were statistically significant, but the path from social anxiety to school adaptation was not significant. Fourth, social anxiety had no direct effect on school adaptation, but it had an indirect effect on school adaptation through social support. Through this, it was confirmed that social anxiety has a complete mediating effect on school adaptation through social support. Based on these research results, implications for improving the school adaptation of students in newly established elementary schools were presented and follow-up research was proposed.

본 연구는 신설초등학교 고학년 학생들의 사회불안, 사회적 지지, 학교적응의 수준을 확인하 고, 변인 간의 관계를 확인하여, 신설초등학교 학생들의 학교적응에 대한 시사점을 제공하고 자 수행한 연구이다. 2025학년도 3월에 신설된 C지역 S초등학교 4~6학년 전체 16학급 332명 을 대상으로 자료를 수집하여, 291명의 자료를 SPSS 및 AMOS프로그램을 통해 자료를 처리하 였다. 주요 변인들의 기술통계를 제시하고, 상관분석을 실시하였으며, 이후 구조방정식 모형 을 설정하여 세 변인 간의 관계를 확인하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사회불 안, 사회적 지지, 학교적응 간에는 상관 관계가 있는 것으로 확인되었으며, 하위변인 간에도 대부분 상관이 존재하였다. 둘째, 사회불안, 사회적 지지, 학교적응의 구조적 관계는 연구모 형 적합도가 적합하였으며, 요인부하량 역시 적합하게 도출되었다. 셋째, 사회불안이 사회적 지지에 이르는 경로와 사회적 지지가 학교적응에 이르는 경로는 유의미하였으나, 사회불안이 학교적응에 이르는 경로는 유의미하지 않았다. 넷째, 사회불안이 학교적응에의 직접효과는 없었으나, 사회적 지지를 매개하여 학교적응에는 간접효과가 있었으며, 이를 통해 사회불안 이 사회적 지지를 통해 학교적응에 완전매개함을 확인하였다. 연구결과를 토대로 신설초등학 교 학생들의 학교적응 향상을 위한 시사점을 제시하였으며, 후속 연구를 제안하였다.
