Based on previous research on the history of Catholicism in the Pocheon region, this paper examines the areas that need to be reviewed and supplemented about the Faith community and martyrs in the Pocheon region during the ‘Catholic persecution period.’ In addition, the process of change in Kong-so and the parishes that governed it in the Pocheon region from ‘the port opening period’ to ‘the Japanese colonial period’ was organized by correcting misunderstandings using the ‘Church Statistics Table’ and ‘Parish-Gongso Chart’ prepared until 1936, letters from missionary priests, and church records. The first Kong-So identified in the Pocheon region is ‘Makeuntami’, which appears in the Church Statistic Table of Wonju Parish in 1897- 1898 and is also confirmed in the Church Statistic Table of Wonju Parish in 1899~1900 According to the Church Statistic Table for 1900-1901, Mak eun tami Kong-So was transferred from Wonju parish to Yakhyeon parish. In the second half of 1903, Mak eun tami Kong-So was transferred again from Yakhyun Parish to Gaeseong Parish. It is difficult to know for sure because the Church Statistic Table is missing from 1904 to 1909, but it seems that in 1908, Yongmun Parish was separated and established from Wonju Parish and took jurisdiction over the Pocheon area. Sye hpa, Hoatairi, Ko il ri, Civítas(Pocheon-eup), Hai riong, and O ka ri were placed under the jurisdiction of Yongmun Parish. The Church Statistic Table is missing for the years 1924-1929, so it is not clear, but it is likely that the Pocheon area Kong-Sos were incorporated when Pyeonggang parish was established in 1924. Tjyeng Kyo ri[Yong ha kol] and song ou ri[Solmorou] Kong-So were established between 1924 and 1929. In 1931-1932, the parish under the jurisdiction of the Pocheon area changed from Pyeonggang Parish to Yeoncheon Shinam-ri Parish. Since Pyeonggang Parish is far from the Pocheon area, there is a possibility that jurisdiction was transferred to the relatively nearby Sinam-ri Parish in Yeoncheon. However, as Sinam-ri parish was abolished in 1932-1933, Kong-So in the Pocheon area were again incorporated into Pyeonggang parish. In 1933, the Deokjeong-ri parish of Yangju was established to govern the Kong-So of the Pocheon area, which was closer in distance. In 1935, the Kong-So of Kou wel was established. Deokjeong-ri parish was moved to Uijeongbu in 1946, and the Kong- So of Pocheon came under the jurisdiction of Uijeongbu parish[now Uijeongbu 2-dong parish]. In 1956, Pocheon parish was separated and established, and the Pocheon area has been governed by Pocheon parish and parishes separated from Pocheon parish to the present. Comparing the Church Statistic Table and the Parish-Gongso Chart (1931, 1932, 1936), there is a slight difference in the number of believers due to the different time periods in which the Church Statistic Table and the Parish-Gongso Chart were created. However, the difference between the Church Statistic Table and the Parish-Gongso Chart is most noticeable for Kong-So names. This is because the Church Statistic Table uses the official administrative village name in alphabet, while the Parish- Gongso Chart uses Kong-So’s proper name in Korean. This allows us to identify other names[village names] for Kong-So that do not appear in the Church Statistic Table.

이 글은 포천 지역 천주교사에 대한 지금까지의 연구성과들을 바탕으로 ‘천주교 박해기’ 포천 지역 신앙공동체와 순교자들에 대해 검토하고 보완해야 할 부분을 살펴보았다. 또한, 개항기~일제강점기 포천 지역 공소 와 관할 본당 변천 과정에 대해 1936년도까지 작성된 ‘교세통계표’와 ‘본 당 공소별 현황’, 선교사제들의 서한과 교회 측 기록 등을 활용하여 잘못 알려진 내용을 수정하면서 정리했다. 포천 지역에서 제일 먼저 확인되는 공소는 ‘막은담이’인데, 1897~1898 년도 원주본당 교세통계표에 나오며 1899~1900년도 원주본당 교세통계 표에도 확인된다. 1900~1901년도 교세통계표에 의하면, 막은담이 공소는 원주본당에서 약현본당으로 편입되었다. 1903년 하반기에 막은담이 공소는 약현본당에 서 개성본당으로 다시 편입되었다. 1904~1909년도까지 교세통계표가 누락되어 있어서 명확하게 알 기는 어렵지만, 1908년 용문본당이 원주본당에서 분리·설정되면서 포천 지역을 관할한 것으로 보인다. 서파(1904~1909년 사이 설정, 1914년 폐지 추정), 화대리(1911년 설정), 고일(1911~1912년 설정)과 포천읍(1911~1912년 설정, 1924년 이후 폐지), 해룡(1914~1915년 설정), 오가리(1918~1919년 설정, 1932년 폐지 추정) 공소가 용문본당 관할 아래 설정되었다. 1924~1929년까지 교세통계표가 누락되었기 때문에 명확히 알 수 없지만, 1924년 평강본당이 설정되면서 포천 지역 공소들이 편입된 것으로 보인다. 정교리[용화골]와 송우리[솔모루] 공소가 1924~1929년 사이에 설정되었다. 1931~1932년도에는 포천 지역 관할 본당이 평강본당에서 연천 신암리본당으로 바뀌었다. 포천 지역에서 평강본당이 멀기 때문에 상대적으로 가까운 연천 신암리본당으로 관할권을 넘겼을 가능성이 있다. 그런데 1932~1933년도에 신암리본당이 폐지되면서 포천 지역 공소들이 다시 평강본당으로 편입되었다. 1933년 양주 덕정리본당이 설정되면서 거리가 가까운 포천 지역 공소들을 관할하게 되었다. 1935년도에는 구월[구울] 공소가 설정되었다. 덕정리본당은 1946년에 의정부로 이전하였고, 포천 지역 공소들은 의정부본당[현재 의정부2동본당(주교좌 의정부성당)] 관할에 속하게 되었다. 1956년 포천본당이 분리·설정되었고, 이후 포천 지역은 포천본당과 포천본당에서 분리된 본당들에 의해 관할되면서 현재에 이르고 있다. 교세통계표와 본당 공소별 현황(1931년, 1932년, 1936년)을 비교해보면, 해당 연도의 통계표와 현황표의 작성 시기가 다르기 때문에 신자 수에서도 약간의 차이가 있다. 그런데 공소 이름에서는 통계표와 현황표 사이에 차이가 두드러진다. 통계표가 공식적인 행정리(行政里)를 알파벳으로 표기했다면, 현황표에서는 공소[마을]의 고유 이름을 한글로 표기했기 때문이다. 행정리/공소 마을이 다른 경우를 들어보면, 용화골/정교리, 막은담리/신팔리, 솔모루/[상]송우리, 한나무골/화대리, 해룡/설운리, 검수정(금수정)/오가리가 있다. 이를 통해 교세통계표에서 나오지 않는 공소의 다른 이름[마을 이름]을 확인할 수 있다.
