This study aimed to identify the meaning and significance of school-based children's rights education and emphasize the need for child-friendly schools. In order to explore ways to expand school-based children’s rights education as part of civic education, an in-depth analysis of child-friendly school model operation cases was conducted. To achieve this, a semi-structured focus group interview was carried out with 8 students and 3 teachers from child-friendly schools. The questions were designed around the essential factors of child-friendly schools, and the study focused on how participants perceive and evaluate these factors based on their experiences in school life. This study explores changes in perceptions and attitudes among teachers and students at child-friendly schools, focusing on five key factors: interaction, safety, non-discrimination, realization of educational values, and student participation. The findings show increased intimacy among school members, expanded spaces for children, and improved relationships in terms of safety. In the non-discrimination area, discussions on equality between children of different backgrounds took place. Additionally, the integration of child-friendly school programs with the curriculum led to higher levels of student-led participation. Based on these findings, this study proposes ways to improve and expand the current implementation of child-friendly schools. It suggests changes to the three-stage system, which operates on a yearly basis, and recommends strategies to ensure that child-friendly factors are embedded across curriculum education and overall school life.

본 연구는 학교 기반 아동권리교육의 의미 및 중요성을 도출하고 아동친화학교의 필요성을 강조하기 위하여 충청지역의 아동친화학교의 교사와 학생을 대상으로 경험 사 례 분석을 심층적으로 시도하였다. 이를 위하여 아동친화학교 학생 8명과 교사 3명을 대상으로 반구조화된 초점집단면담을 실시하였다. 아동친화학교 필요 요인을 중심으 로 영역별 질문을 구성하고 연구 참여자들이 자신들이 경험한 학교 생활을 중심으로 아동친화학교 요인에 대해 어떻게 인식하고 평가하는지를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 면담 질문은 아동친화학교의 5가지 요인 상호작용, 안전, 비차별, 교육가치 실현, 학생참여를 중심으로 구성하였으며, 아동참여학교 교사와 학생을 대상으로 학교생활 경험에 기반하여 아동 권리보장에 대한 인식과 태도 변화를 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 상호 작용에서는 학교 구성원 간 친밀도가 증가하고, 안전 측면에서도 아동이 활용할 수 있 는 공간이 확장되고 관계 개선에도 도움이 되었다. 또한 이주배경 및 장애 아동간의 비 차별에 대한 논의가 진행되고 아동친화학교 프로그램을 통해 교과교육 연계가 높아짐 에 따라 학생 주도 참여도 증가되었음을 알 수 있었다. 이를 토대로 시민교육으로서 학 교기반의 아동권리교육을 실현하기 위한 방안으로 아동친화학교가 확산되기 위한 방 안을 제안하였다.
