This study clarified the intrinsic value of Taekwondo based on the philosophical understanding of intrinsic value. The study of the value of Taekwondo has mainly focused on extrinsic values such as educational, athletic, and economic values, but such studies have the limitation of not revealing the unique value of Taekwondo. Intrinsic value is a value that is an end in itself, and it is a value that can only be obtained through direct participation because it is inherent in Taekwondo. According to the classification of Kukkiwon, the intrinsic value of Taekwondo is divided into physical functional values such as skillful body movements or footwork, psychological values such as meaningfulness, courage, and perseverance, and moral values such as courtesy, justice, and service. Extrinsic values such as money, honor, and power can also be pursued through Taekwondo. However, the reason why these values can be pursued through Taekwondo is because Taekwondo has intrinsic value. Excessive pursuit of extrinsic values in Taekwondo can lead to the decline and corruption of intrinsic values.

이 연구는 내재적 가치에 관한 철학적 이해에 근거하여 태권도의 내 재적 가치를 규명한 것이다. 태권도의 가치 연구는 주로 교육적, 체육적, 경제적 가치 등 외재적 가치에 초점을 맞춰왔으나, 이러한 연구는 태권 도만의 고유 가치를 드러내지 못한다는 한계가 있다. 내재적 가치는 그 자체가 목적인 가치로, 태권도에 내재하기 때문에 직접 참여를 통해서만 얻을 수 있는 가치다. 국기원의 분류에 따라 태권도의 내재적 가치는 능 숙한 몸놀림이나 발기술 같은 신체기능적 가치, 의미충만감과 용기, 인 내 등의 심적 능력 같은 심리적 가치, 예의, 정의, 봉사 같은 도덕적 가 치로 구분된다. 태권도를 통해 돈, 명예, 권력 같은 외재적 가치를 추구 할 수도 있다. 그러나 태권도를 통해 이러한 가치를 추구할 수 있는 이 유는 태권도에 내재적 가치가 존재하기 때문이다. 태권도에서 외재적 가 치의 과도한 추구는 내재적 가치의 쇠퇴와 부패로 이어질 수 있다.
