While Yeats’s lifelong love for Maud Gonne is widely recognized and has profoundly influenced his life and literature, his affection for Iseult Gonne, Maud’s stepdaughter, has received comparatively less attention. This aspect, however, deserves further consideration. His love for Iseult was equally deep and enduring, and its intensity is evident in many of his works. Particularly notable is Yeats’s frequent use of the image of the dancer as a symbol of ideal beauty, often associated with Iseult Gonne, reflecting the profound depth of his love for her. This recurring symbolism offers an important clue to understanding Yeats’s feelings for Iseult. This paper examines the rich imagery connected to Iseult in Yeats’s poetry, offering a deeper understanding of his feelings as expressed in his love poems.
