『Zoology』(1906), which is known to have been used as a college textbook at Soongsil University in the early 20th century, was reviewed to critically discuss the publication of the data, the collection information of the data that has not been organized, and the issues that have been disagreed in previous discussions. In this article, the discussion points of 『Zoology』(1906) are set in four ways. As a result of ① examining the writing and publication process of 『Zoology』(1906), ② whether it is used as a university textbook, ③ the current status of the collection of materials, and ④ the publication information, it was found that there were things that were not revealed in previous studies and materials, and that there were things described without accurate grounds. A careful examination of the mission documents of the Baird missionary couple and the historical materials of Soongsil University revealed that Annie L. A. Baird began writing 『Zoology』(1906), on March 9, 1903 and published a textbook on June 30, 1906. 『Zoology』(1906), is a science textbook used in the second grade curriculum of middle school at Soongsil Academy, not Soongsil University. In addition to the four collections(National Library of Korea, The Korean Christian Museum at Soongsil University, Yonsei University Library, Korea Educational Development Institute) presented in previous studies, the National Folk Museum of Korea, Paju and the National Assembly Library also have 『Zoology』(1906). Previous studies have shown that 『Zoology』(1906) was published in the Korean Religious Tract Society, but no publisher was officially listed in 『Zoology』(1906). Since there is no evidence that the publisher can be regarded as the Korean Religious Tract Society, it is concluded that it is more appropriate to raise it as a possibility.

지금까지 20세기 초기에 숭실대학에서 대학 교과서로 사용한 것으로 알려진 『동물학』(1906)을 재검토하여 자료의 발간 경위와 그동안 정리되지 못했던 자료의 소장 정 보, 선행 논의들에서 이견을 보였던 사항 등을 비판적으로 논의하였다. 이 글에서는 『동물학』(1906)의 논의점을 다섯 가지로 설정하였다. ① 『동물학』(1906)의 출판 연도, ② 『동물학』(1906)의 출판사 및 판본 정보, ③ 자료의 소장 현황, ④ 『동물학』(1906)의 집필․출판 과정, ⑤ 대학 교과서로서의 사용 여부. 베어드 선교사 부부의 선교 문서, 숭실대학교의 역사 자료 등을 면밀하게 검토하여 애니 L. A. 베어드가 1903년 3월 9 일에 『동물학􋺸(1906)을 저술하기 시작하여 1906년 6월 30일에 교과서가 출판되었다는 점, 국립중앙도서관 소장본은 조선총독부도서관의 소장본이었다는 점, 『동물학』(1906)을 헐버트 교과서 시리즈에 포함하기에는 제약이 있다는 점, 자료의 소장처는 총 6곳이고 9권이 현재까지 전해지고 있다는 점, 『동물학』1906)이 숭실학당에서 중 학교 2학년 교과 과정에 사용된 과학 교과서라는 점을 밝혔고 『동물학』(1906)은 출판사 정보가 공식적으로 내표지에 인쇄되지 않았기 때문에 출판사를 ‘조선야소교서회’ 또는 ‘Korean Religious Tract Society’로 보는 것은 유의해야 한다는 결론을 내렸다.
