This paper aims to introduce major materials related to the history of the Korean language held by the National Museum of Korea and its 13 affiliated museums. As of December 31, 2023, the combined collections of the National Museum of Korea and its affiliated museums comprise 1,555,224 catalogued entries and 2,441,989 individual objects. Among these, 470 items have been designated as cultural heritage, including 125 National Treasures and 327 Treasures. Materials related to the history of the Korean language include not only texts written in classical transcription systems such as Idu *41)and Gugyeol **,42)used before and around the time of the invention of Hangeul, but also Hangeul documents and relevant Classical Chinese materials from the 15th century onward. While the majority of these materials are textual, the collection also includes unique formats such as scroll-form editions of the First Tripitaka Koreana and individual archival leaves. In addition to paper-based materials, there are also items inscribed or marked on stone, metal, wood, and ceramics. This paper provides an overview of the materials related to the history of the Korean language housed in the National Museum of Korea and its affiliated museums. The materials are categorized into four groups: pre-Hangeul transcription materials, linguistic materials included among major donations, designated cultural heritage items related to Korean language history, and artifacts reflecting the material culture of language life in diverse media. By presenting this outline, the study aims to offer a foundational reference that will support and encourage future research on the history of the Korean language using these resources.

본고는 국립중앙박물관 및 산하 13개 박물관 소장 주요 국어사 자료를 소개하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 국립중앙박물관 및 소속 박물관의 소장품은 총 1,555,224건 2,441,989점(2023.12.31. 기준)으로, 지정문화유산은 470건(국보 125건, 보물 327건 등) 이다. 국어사 자료에는 한글 창제 전후의 차자표기 자료를 비롯해 15세기 이후의 한글 자료 및 관련 한문 자료 등이 있다. 문헌 자료가 다수이지만 두루말이 형태의 초조대 장경, 낱장 고문서도 있으며, 지류 외에 돌이나 금속, 나무, 도자기 등의 재질로 된 것 도 있다. 본고에서는 국립중앙박물관 및 소속 박물관 소장 국어사 자료를, 한글 창제 이전의 차자표기 자료, 주요 기증품 속의 국어사 자료, 지정문화유산급 국어사 자료, 다양한 재 질의 국어생활사 자료로 나누어 개략적인 내용을 소개함으로써 향후 이들 자료를 대상 으로 한 국어사 연구가 활발히 이루어질 수 있도록 기초 자료를 제공하고자 하였다.
