A Study on the Methodology of Poetic Analysis through Spatial Perception ?Focusing on Park Jutaek’s poetry collection Architecture of Dream Migration

- This study aims to establish a universal methodology for poetic analysis by focusing on spatial perception, addressing the limitations of previous research that often treated space as an isolated element within individual poems. Recognizing that the concept of space has evolved from a mere geopolitical coordinate to a structural notion encompassing social and political meanings in modern times, this research posits that space within poetry functions as a crucial device reflecting the poet’s consciousness and worldview. To explore this, the study examines Park Jutaek’s poetry collection Architecture of Dream Migration (1991), categorizing the spatial elements into three types: (1) everyday space, (2) natural space, and (3) boundary space. Each category is analyzed to understand its significance concerning the poetic subject’s positionality and perceptual structure. The analysis reveals that Park’s poetic spaces are not constructed through simple binary oppositions but are dynamically formed through the concept of “boundary,” where reality and ideals intersect and transform. The poetic subject experiences pain and futility in everyday spaces and perceives natural spaces as ideal yet unattainable. Instead, the subject adopts a poetic stance within boundary spaces, traversing and simultaneously contemplating both the real and the ideal. This indicates that space functions not merely as a physical backdrop but as a structural element reflecting the subject’s inner perception and worldview. By conducting this spatial analysis, the study elucidates that space in Park Jutaek’s poetry embodies narrative and philosophical meanings beyond serving as a mere setting. This research contributes to the development of a spatial analysis methodology applicable to other poets’ works, offering a new perspective for interpreting poetic texts through the lens of spatial perception.

- 본 연구는 기존 연구에서 시적 공간에 대한 논의를 진행할 때 공간을 개별 작품 속 요소로 이해하는 데 초점이 맞춰져 있었음에 주목하여, 공간 인식을 분석함으로써 시인이 구축하는 시적 세계관과의 상관성을 분석하기 위한 보편적 방법론 구축에 그 목적을 둔다. 공간 개념이 근대에서 현대에 이르며 단순한 지정학적 좌표에서 사회적·정치적 의미를 포함하는 구조적 개념으로 변화해 왔음을 전제할 때, 시 내부에서 공간은 단순한 배경을 넘어 창작자의 사유와 인식을 드러내는 중요한 장치로 작용한다. 이를 위해 『꿈의 이동건축』(박주택, 1991)에 나타난 공간을 ①일상, ②자연, ③경계의 세 공간으로 분류하고, 각 공간이 시적 주체의 위치성과 인식 구조에서 어떠한 의미를 갖는지를 분석하였다. 그 결과 박주택의 시적 공간은 단순한 대립적 구도로 이루어진 것이 아니라, ‘경계’라는 개념을 통해 현실과 이상이 중첩되며 변주되는 방식으로 형성됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 주체는 일상 공간에서 고통과 허무를 경험하며, 자연 공간을 이상적 공간으로 인식하지만 실질적으로 도달하지는 못한다. 대신 그는 경계 공간에서 현실과 이상의 경계를 가로지르며 두 세계를 동시에 조망하는 시적 태도를 보인다. 이는 공간이 단순한 물리적 배경이 아니라, 시적 주체의 내면적 인식과 세계관을 반영하는 구조적 요소로 기능함을 의미한다. 본 연구는 이러한 공간 분석을 통해 박주택의 시 세계에서 공간이 단순한 배경이 아닌 서사적·철학적 의미를 담고 있음을 규명하고, 이를 기반으로 향후 다른 시인의 작품에도 적용 가능한 시적 공간 분석 방법론을 제시하는 데 기여하고자 한다.

- 한국문예창작학회(The Society of Korean Literary Creative Writing)는 한국 문학의 새 지평을 열기 위해 문예창작 이론과 문예교육 이론을 연구 계발하여 문 예창작의 새로운 방향을 제시하고자 조직한 학술단체입니다. 전국 대학과 대학원 문예창작 관련학과의 전·현직 전임교수·겸임(초빙)교수· 강 사·대학원 재학 이상자 및 문예창작인들이 회원으로 활동하고 있습니다. 학회의 목적에 적극적으로 동의하는 문학 관련 단체나 문학창작 동호인도 준회원으로 참 여하고 있습니다. 연 2회 학회지를 발간해 학문적 기반을 닦고 있으며, 정기적으로 학술 세미나 와 해외 문학 심포지엄 등 학술 발표회를 개최하여 학문적 교류와 토론의 장을 넓히고 있습니다. 한편으로, 문예창작 캠프·문학기행 등의 창작교육 활동과 창작 학습 행사를 수 시로 진행하면서, 창작·창작이론·창작교육에 관한 활동의 범위를 넓히고 있습니다. 별도로, 문예창작 교육을 받은 문예창작학도들의 진로 개발을 위해 '문예교육지도 교사 자격 시험'도 운영하고 있습니다. The Society of Korean Literary Creative Writing is a pure academic association for the literary cretive writing, and was organized on November 11, 2001 for the purpose of presenting the new direction of literary creative writing by studying all the methods to activate and develop the theories of literary creative writing and its education. Our society is composed of professors or ex-professors, some invited professor, lecturers, graduate students of the dept. of literary creative writing as regular members, and the persons interested in our program as associative members. Our society holds an annual academic meeting-- literary symposium, literary creative writing seminar-- and publishes the journal of our society and our members' anthology of literary works. Added to these, our society has already started a new project to open the way for our literary juniors by providing them with a certificate as a leader and holding a forum for literary creative writing.
