This paper critically examines the value-neutrality ideal of science and technology in the current moral education through the lens of the argument from inductive risk and then analyses the implications of inductive risk for moral education. The argument from inductive risk refers to the idea that science cannot be entirely free from values due to the inherent possibility of error in scientific inference. Recent discussions on inductive risk suggest the following implications for moral education: First, caution is needed when asserting that the process of justification should be entirely value-free. Second, further discussion is required to clarify the legitimate roles of values in science. Third, debates on the social responsibility of scientists can be expanded in light of these considerations.

본 논문에서는 귀납적 위험으로부터의 논증을 통해 현행 도덕과 교 육과정에서 다루고 있는 과학기술의 가치 중립성 이상을 비판적으로 검토한다. 귀납적 위험으로부터의 논증이란 과학적 추론에서 귀납적 위험, 즉 잘못된 선택을 내릴 가능성을 완전히 피할 수 없으므로, 오류 의 여파에 관한 가치가 과학에 적법하게 개입한다는 주장이다. 귀납적 위험을 둘러싼 최근 연구는 도덕교육에 있어 첫째, 과학의 정당화에 가치를 완전히 배제해야 한다는 단정적인 선언을 경계해야 하며, 둘째, 가치의 적법한 역할에 관한 토론이 필요하고, 셋째, 과학자의 사회적 책임에 대한 논의를 확장할 수 있음을 시사한다.
