This paper examines the 'rain' accepted in the sijo, focusing on the work, the author, and the type and role, and reveals the meaning. This can be summarized and organized as follows. First of all, the total number of works of "Rain" accepted in the sijo is 280, with 244 in short sijo and 36 in long sijo. And there are 84 artists based on "Rain", and the number of works is 153 and the artist who wrote the most works is An Seo-woo, 35. Next, the pattern of 章 is confirmed a total of 295 times, with 265 times for single and 30 times for overlapping. The largest number of chapters is identified as chojang, with 126 numbers. On the other hand, 'Rain' is accepted in a total of 7 vocabulary words 9 times, and the most is 'Spring Rain' in the beginning of Jongjang, which is the core wife of the sijo. And overlapping appears the same. Next, we looked at the types of 'Rain' accepted in the sijo, which has 8 major categories, 55 vocabulary words, and the total frequency is 295 times. The most common type is 'alone', 89 times, followed by 'union', 56 times, 42 times for 'woojong', 35 times for 'time', 26 times for 'state', 10 times for 'seasonal rain', and 11 times for others. Third, the literary role of 'Rain' accepted in the sijo was examined. First, the acceptance and role of 'acceptance and role as a literary metaphor' was examined as 'parable of tears', 'trial', and 'parable of military and governance'. Next, the 'acceptance and role as a literary device' was examined focusing on 'creating a poetic atmosphere' and 'setting a poetic time'. Through this, 'Rain' accepted in the sijo plays a major role in raising the artist's sense of award or theme. Finally, I re-examined the meaning of "Rain" accepted in the Gosijo. First of all, it embraces the characteristics of rain in a multifaceted and active manner, embodies the harmony between nature and humans through rain, and contributes to enhancing the literary nature of the Sijo.

본 고는 시조에 수용된 ‘비’를 작품과 유형, 그리고 문학적 수용과 역할을 중심 으로 살피고 의미를 밝혀 보았다. 먼저 시조에 수용된 ‘비’의 작품 수는 총 280수이며 단시조가 244수이고 장시조 가 36수다. 그리고 ‘비’를 소재로 한 작가는 84명이며 작품 수는 153수이고 가장 많은 작품을 쓴 작가는 安瑞羽로 35수이다. 다음으로 각 章의 출현 양상은 총 295 회가 확인되며 단독이 265회, 중복이 30회이다. 가장 많은 章은 初章으로 126수가 확인된다. 그리고 중복은 대동소이하게 나타난다. 한편 시조의 핵심 처라 할 수 있 는 終章 初句에 ‘비’가 수용된 것은 총 7개의 어휘에 9회이고 가장 많은 것은 ‘봄 비에’이다. 다음으로 시조에 수용된 ‘비’의 유형을 살펴보았는데 대분류는 8개이며 중분류인 어휘는 55개이며 총빈도수는 295회이다. 가장 많은 유형은 ‘단독’으로 89 회이고 다음은 ‘조합’으로 56회이며 ‘雨種’은 58회, ‘時間’과 ‘狀態는 26회, ‘雨質’ 은 19회, ‘季節雨’는 10회이며 기타는 11회이다. 셋째로 시조에 수용된 ‘비’의 수용과 역할을 살펴보았다. 먼저 ‘문학적 비유로서 수용과 역할’은 ‘눈물의 비유’와 ‘시련의 비유’, 그리고 ‘君恩과 統治의 비유’를 살 펴 보았다. 다음으로 ‘문학적 장치로서의 수용과 역할’은 ‘시적 분위기 조성’과 ‘시 적 시간의 설정’을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 시조에 나타난 ‘비’는 문학적 수용과 역할로서 작가의 시상이나 주제를 효과적으로 표출하는 데 주요한 역할을 하고 있다고 하겠다. 끝으로 고시조에 수용된 ‘비’의 의미를 재조명해 보았는데 먼저 타 문학보다 시 조에 나타난 ‘비’가 다각적이고 적극적으로 수용하고 있다는 점과 ‘비를 통해 자연 과 인간의 조화로움을 구체화시키고 있는 점, 그리고 시조의 문학성을 높이는데 기여하고 있다는 점 등이다.
