As AI is utilized throughout the fashion industry today, interest in the use of AI is also increasing in fashion design education at universities. This study analyzed the characteristics of images generated from Midjourney by type of creative costume design sketches and proposed an effective method of utilizing Midjourney. The research results are as follows. First, creative costume design sketches are largely divided into two types: sketches expressed in lines and sketches expressed in surfaces, and are expressed in six styles. Second, design sketches expressed in lines tend to produce mostly flat design images in the mid-journey, whereas design sketches expressed in surfaces tend to produce three-dimensional and structural design images, and appear with a greater sense of realism. Third, when using Midjourney to get new ideas based on fashion design sketches, you can create specific and realistic images by using sketches that depict the design in three dimensions with lines or sketches that depict the design in three dimensions by depicting it as a surface through coloring. The results of this study suggest that Midjourney can be utilized more effectively to develop creative clothing designs.

오늘날 AI가 패션 산업 전반에 활용됨에 따라 대학의 패션디자인 교육 현장에서도 AI 활용에 관한 관심이 증 가하고 있다. 본 연구는 창작 의상 디자인스케치의 유형별로 미드저니에서 생성한 이미지의 특징을 분석함으로써 효 과적인 미드저니의 활용 방법을 제안하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 창작 의상디자인 스케치는 크게 선으로 표현한 스케치와 면으로 표현한 스케치로 2가지 유형으로 구분되며 6가지 스타일로 나타났다. 둘째, 선으로 표현한 디자인스케치는 미드저니에서 주로 평면적인 디자인 이미지가 생성되는 반면 면으로 표현한 디자인스케치는 입체적 이고 구조적인 디자인 이미지가 생성되며 실재감이 증대되어 나타나는 경향이 있다. 셋째, 패션디자인 스케치를 기반 으로 새로운 아이디어를 얻고자 미드저니를 활용할 때 디자인을 선으로 입체적으로 묘사한 스케치 또는 채색을 통하 여 디자인을 면으로 묘사하여 입체적으로 표현한 스케치를 사용함으로써 구체적이고 실재감있는 이미지를 생성할 수 있다. 본 연구 결과를 통하여 창의적 의상 디자인 개발을 위하여 미드저니를 더욱 효과적으로 활용할 수 있다.
