This study aims to explore the transformation of painting and photography in the digital era, focusing on their creative methods, aesthetic characteristics, and the dynamics of convergence and separation between the two mediums. The development of digital technology has fundamentally restructured the traditional modes of visual art, opening new possibilities for creative expression. This research analyzes how digital technology has influenced the expressive forms of painting and photography, examining the aesthetic expansion and redefinition of boundaries between these mediums. A methodology combining literature review, case study, and comparative media analysis was applied. Through the analysis of works by Jeff Wall, Gerhard Richter, Martin Parr, and Mike Winkelmann, this study investigates how digital technology reshapes creative processes and aesthetic qualities. The results reveal that digital painting extends traditional symbolism and subjectivity into new forms, while photography expands its artistic domain through the reconstruction of immediacy and authenticity. Furthermore, the convergence of the two mediums reflects not merely a technological fusion but the creation of a new visual language. These findings demonstrate that digital technology contributes to expanding the aesthetic potential of traditional artistic media while preserving their unique characteristics.

이 연구는 디지털 시대에서 회화와 사진의 창작 방식, 미학적 특성, 그리고 두 매체 간 융합 및 분리의 양상을 탐구하는 데 목적이 있다. 디지털 기술의 발전은 전통적 시각 예술 매체의 표현 구조를 근본적으로 변화시키며, 창작 환경에 새로운 가능성 을 열어주었다. 본 연구에서는 디지털 기술이 회화와 사진의 표현 방식에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는지를 분석하고, 이를 통해 두 매체 의 미학적 확장과 경계 재정립 과정을 살펴본다. 연구 방법으로는 문헌 연구, 사례 분석, 매체 비교 연구를 활용하였다. 제프 월 (Jeff Wall), 게르하르트 리히터(Gerhard Richter), 마틴 파(Martin Parr), 마이크 윙콜먼(Mike Winkelmann)의 작품 분석을 통해 디지털 기술이 창작 방식과 미학적 특성을 어떻게 변형시키는지를 고찰하였다. 분석 결과, 디지털 회화는 기존의 상징성과 주관성 을 새로운 형식으로 확장하며, 사진은 즉각적인 기록성과 진실성의 재구성을 통해 예술적 영역을 확장하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었 다. 또한, 두 매체의 융합은 단순히 기술적 결합이 아닌, 새로운 시각 언어를 창조하는 과정으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과는 디지털 기술이 전통적인 예술 매체의 고유성을 유지하면서도 새로운 미학적 가능성을 확장시키는 데 기여하고 있음을 보여준다.
